I wanted to early last summer, but found out from Hydra that it would be a 300 dollar upgrade (depends on if your unit was made before or after a certain date) and you also have to send in the unit.

Hydra has a list of the revisions on their site from 2.5 to 2.6. There are some bug fixes from what I could see. All in all, probably a worth while upgrade.

it still uses the serial cable, however when I bought my 2.6, it came with a usb-serial adapter that they support.

To be honest with you the 2.5 is great and the software is a bit more intuitive to use. I have not bothered to send in my unit to upgrade.

v2.5 sucks! I have had the Hydra for more than 1yr now and have had many problems with it. Mainly not being able to control Idle. This generally isn't a problem for most, but I am running Hydra EMS on 2 different setups. One with 700cc injectors and fully built motor, one with 1600cc Injectors and fully built motor.

On the stock motor w/700cc injectors the idle was hit or miss depending on humidity that given day. But it was usable. The 1600cc Injectors were impossible to control and made life difficult.

Even on the built motor 700cc's were causing problems.

v2.6 has corrected all Check Engine light flickering and solved idle control issues. v2.6 IS WORTH THE UPGRADE. 100x more controllable.

You may want to fire your tuner. I run 650cc and ive NEVER had ANY issue with my 2.5. Tuned by Guru....and his tC runs 800's and again runs like a factory car.

The only people ive talked to that have had idle issues ends up being some settings are off somewhere. Which is not the units fault.

I'm pretty sure Guru is Dan at the Tuning Factory correct? He taught my tuner how to use the Hydra. Maybe I will have to see what the deal is.

Another question, do you run a fully built motor?

Ben this is John, the Blue RS 2.0 from Scion Exposed. I have meet you two years in a row. We were in the Tuner Challenge as well. I may have to make a visit up there to get some advice.

Ahhh! yes what up John?! PM and we can talk built motors. I dont want to go off topic.

Who is your tuner? Guru is Dan and he tuned both mine and my brothers and they run perfect. I'm pretty sure that he helped another SLer with idle problems and he was on a fully built motor.
