Default saw 12 tCs on the dealer's lot

went to dunning toyota/scion (Ann Arbor, MI) today to get my first oil change and to get a minor warantee repair done, and i saw 12 tC's sitting on the lot! two of them were still on the truck that was parked. im wondering how come i waited 4 months for my car (from a dealership in chicago).

not sure if they have been spoken for. well, if you are waiting for a tC and want one, give them a call.

we just got a lot of tCs too...it all has to do with the amount that they were selling. when you pre-sell a lot, you get a lot more in your next allocation...it looks like that's paying off for them (and a lot of other dealers)

supply and demand thats all. the tC's might be hot in one area and cold in another. who knows, maybe they're just shipping more now since its the beginning of the year and they've been on the market for a while and they know the most popular options to ship them with. of course i dont know a damn thing about the car sales, but thats what first came to mind. i'd be a little annoyed too if i saw that though.

This is also the WORST time for dealers and selling cars. All the people can't afford the cars after seeing their Christmas gifts on credit cards......

John Landcaster in Madison, Wisconsin had 3 on the lot compared to 1 test drive car over at Smart Scion across town. Plus they had more coming early next week on a Semi from Chicago. I have see yet to see a tc on the road though.

Nobody - I mean nobody - actually has 12 tC's sitting around. If the truck was still there, it means they were just unloading. Which means that today they detail them and call the people on the waiting list. Then they dissapear. Just because they're there doesn't mean they're unspoken for. My dealer doesn't even have a test drive car because they can't keep them on the lot. They had one once because the owner smashed into the door or something, and after repairing they didn't feel like selling it as new, so they kept it as the tester. A month or two later when I came back, even that was gone - these cars aren't sitting around.

Well then I must be a nobody......cause I have 14 tC's in stock and 10 more on the way. In Chicago, they're harder to find, but in Milwaukee, the demand isn't as big. I'm the biggest dealer in Wisconsin, so I get the most. Anyone looking for a tC in the upper midwest, drop me a line!

I've got a question for you out there - if the midwest has such low demand, how come you get such good allocations? I know out here on the west coast, they're pretty damn hard to find. When I was in for an oil change, there was a couple buyers looking and there were none on the lot. Just like with me, they had to put down a deposit to order a car without even driving it. The thinking is if they don't like it, someone else will just buy it so no big deal, but having to make people put down money for cars before they can sit in them doesn't make a lot of sense if someone else is sitting on a pile of them. Maybe this is just Scion not being too good at managing inventory?

Iowagary...it depends on how many Toyotas you sell, not your demand. Scion is fixed in that you earn based on your Toyota sales volume, and that # is fixed for a year. It may be different on the west coast. I know Toyota stores in Cali get more Prius' than we do, but we have 40+ orders waiting for a car, but LA dealers often have some on the lot. Not fair.

Anyone want to fly into Milwaukee to get a tC? I'll pick them up at the airport with their new car!!!!

Heh... I know my dealer is the #1 in the area, but their allocations of Scions are only like 5 or so per shipment, which isn't nearly enough. Are the Scion quotas tied to the Toyota quotas? That's strange if it's true. They should take into account what you're selling.

Oh... and it's a bit confusing - if it's cars sold, not waiting list length, how do they expect anything to change? If you sell everything you've got, and have a long waiting list, you should get more cars so you can sell them...

Nobody ever said Toyota/Scion did things logically. 2 months ago, I had 1-2 tC's in-stock, but now demand has slowed and I have built up an inventory. I'll be sitting pretty when demand picks up again in the spring, cause I'll have supply. There really is not perfect way to allocate cars to regions that need them the most without short changing someone. We could be off with demand now, get less tC's, and then pick up again next month and have none.....nobody has a crystal ball to see what the market will be. It'd be interesting if they used a magic 8 ball to allocate cars......Will this region sell tC's?....It is certain!

Some people "think" the tC is in greater demand than it really is. And maybe some dealerships have kept a low stock on purpose to make it seem hotter.

However, I live in Soutern Cali, and the dealer closest to me has about 7 or 8 tC's on the lot and three RS.1 xA's!!

No waiting list there.....

No... it's really in that much demand up here. No dealers have them. My dealer is owned by a guy who owns several, so they can trade pretty easily and there is a long waiting list to get them. Several months if you want a manual with SAB like I did. I guess it's just regions of the country.

I will admit, side air bags are not that easy to get. I have 7 manuals..1 with SAB. I also have 9 autos...2 w/ SAB. So waiting for SAB is not uncommon, especially if you a dead set with 1 color choice.

I'm truly surprised CyberGypsy hasn't been here yet with one of her anti-tC comments...

well, i don't know about the rest of the country, or the rest of southern california. but, our dealership has nothing. and i swear we get the worst tC allocation. we mostly get black cherry. and no offense to anyone with that color, but it isn't very popular. but, anywho, we still sell everything we get in. for the most part before they land. with no money out of pocket. *shrug* i heard that in michigan it's blasphemous to be driving an import.....

Hilarious. You hate her more than I do. With that said she will most likely show up here. She is even in your sig.
Thanks for your service, even if you are a squid.
J/K, you can call me a jarhead, bullet catcher, I don't care. Just don't call me cybergypsy.
