Default Airbag light on.. location of sensors/wiring?!

So I have NO idea why my airbag light decided to come on one morning. Wasn't hit, no bumpy roads, NOTHING was touched, etc. And I've already tried searching through old posts for this but no help..

Brought it into Toyota and they want "either $45 or $90, depending on how long it takes" JUST to diagnose it.. and I'm like, wtf, don't they just plug the code reader in?! I find it ridiculous to pay even the $45 since I think something just came loose somewhere, seeing as how every now and then the light will go off while I'm driving then come right back on.

So what I want to know is is there somewhere to find out where the sensors and wiring are so I can run through and check them over myself? Specifically in the seat.. because at most, that's the only thing that's been moved. (sliding it forward/backward)

Just so you know, no way of just "checking" the airbag system. You run the risk of blowing airbags if you try to probe wires and check.
Also, something just doesn't "come loose" in the airbag system. You definitely have a problem and you need a professional to look at it.

Do you ignore a doctor cause you don't want to pay their high doctor fees, even though you know that there something wrong with you?

This is correct. Airbag connectors do not come loose. They all have positive locking mechanisms insuring a connection that does not come apart unintentionaly. You very likely have a sensor, electrical. or computer problem. Have you done anything just recently mod wise where you might have cut a power or ground lead? If so look there and if you see nothing take it to the dealer or a very good bodyshop for diagnosis and repair. If you do see some issue take it to a qualified technician for repair..let him be responsible should he blow a bag by accident (this by the way is a very rare occurance but does happen every now and then, and is usually caused by a tech not following instructions precisely).

So you expect someone to diagnose it for you for free? $45 is not a bad deal.
Everything on the airbag system is super tight and well protected. Knowledge information and special tool are used when diagnosing failures.

Well no ____, I figured most of it is.

I'm not a child, people.

I wasn't sure if MAYBE there was SOMETHING I could check (a cluster of wires somewhere, etc).. to see if I could jiggle or make sure was connected tightly before having them check it out.

And apparently something IS "just loose" because, like I said, it will go off and on for no apparent reason while driving.

don't mess with an airbag system. it can hurt you pretty bad. just be smart and go to toyota and get it fixed.us are you under warranty at all? 45 is not a lot to diagnose anything on a car.

No warranty coverage.. only 3yr/36k. :/ You'd think an airbag system would be covered longer than that..

Positive? On all vehicles? because they said otherwise at the dealer.. I suppose I need to go in and re-confront them about it.

I am at Toyota right now (a different one). It took talking to like three different ppl to get them to finally say it's covered under the 6y/60k warranty. Man, they are really trying to swindle money out of ppl. ;P

Should have let the other one just charge me for it, then sued. Since they recently got sued for overcharging the state max dealer fees on all the new cars they've been selling.
