Default Ok so 215 40 or 205 40?

So I just spaced out my wheels so I'm running +12 in the rear, and I would like to drop the whole car, but first I need to stretch the tires. I'm running 225 40 18, and know they need to be thinner. I figured 215 40 or 205 40 would be best. Here are some pics for referance so far.

Thanks, I like the stance on yours. Are you on coilovers? What size tires?

Yeah the fish is good stuff.

I have H techs and thought about cutting a loop off of them, but I think the tire change is needed first. Thanks for the info. Oh yeah the spacers are 20 mm.

He has a 20mm spacer. The offset of the 504 is a +32. To get them as flush as the fitment guide stickied up top(for 8 inch wide wheel its +10 offset for the rear) he got the spacer to kick the wheel out. I don't know of a 22mm spacer but a 20mm spacer will get them pushed out nice. I'd get a Project Kics or H&R spacer ADAPTER for going 20mm and pass the extended lug route. For tire size, again, there's the stickied fitment guide up top which recommends a 215 size to stretch for 8" wide wheel for flush fitment. The info is where it need be, but since you put up pics you get a pass .

And please please please do not cut springs, you'll kick yourself for it when you bounce around town rubbing tires. I'd also get the fenders rolled before you get the car lower to save your tires.

cutting springs? come on man... just get yourself coilovers or s-techs... youll be glad you did!

and according to the wheel fitment guide, you should be ok on 215's

How come you don't run the wider wheel with the lower offset in the front?

Don't really understand what wider wheel? The rear wheel is only wider because the spacer.

Oh ok, I must of missed that info. You should run a larger spacer in the front to make the front end look more aggressive. After all it is a fwd car.

There's no wider wheel, they're only offered 18x8 +32. The spacer just gives the car a wider track. I'm not to sure bout flushing out the front with a spacer I'd have to look at the guide. After a look it'd take a 9mm spacer with this wheel. Since I don't know of a 9mm spacer offered he'd have to go 10mm, having the wheel poke out 1mm. Then he'd have to choose to stretch a 215 and camber or go 205 and maybe still camber or do a slight fender pull depending how much of a drop he wants.

Or, I could get a 10mm spacer and have the machine shop mill off 1mm. Either way no prob, just a misunderstanding. But to answer the root question, I'm trying to tune in the rear offset first.

Thank you for letting me know what a spacer does.

I run a 25mm hub centric spacer on the front and a 15mm spacer on the rear stockies, on 225/45/17's. Which comes out to be a 225/45 on a 17x7 with a +25 offset on the front and a +35 offset on the rear wheels. I run -2.5 on the front and -1.0 degrees of camber on the rear.

Anyways my point is that the car looks good, but the way the camber is setup with the rear wheels on a wider track seems to be the kind of setup you would see on a rwd car. [/img]

Well much apologies for me not looking at your profile before posting(is that a have to do now?). And as stated above he wants to get the rear stance set before going to the front.

It is true about the rwd look, I just want to tune in an overall vip style stance (no I do not have enough money). But we'll say "inspired by vip" for the haters. Just fell in love with the look but military pay won't be enough for a Lex 430 on Scaras. Anyways, much love, ordered the 215 40 18's today, and if I don't like that I'll mill down the spacers to 15mm at the shop. Deuces, and I'll be in touch. ;)

It's all cool and look forward to more pics of the car as it progresses and gets finished(don't forget to take some full side shots). I plan on doing the same setup except ride on adjustable coilovers.
