Default Just Curious How I Am Doing

Okey so i got my tC in June and I finally was able to drive it a full month later after all the paperwork was done. So far I have changed the stereo to the premium deck and bought the trd cai and exhaust. I am purchasing the Kaminari CF hood and then my other plan is to tint the windows. I originally was going to drop the car but I fell I'm going to hit the lip. Upstate NY is famous for potholes.

Just wondering if im spending my money wisely. I know I'm not going to turbo or sc my car this is my daily driver and I need it to last.

Sounds good so far. I'd still look into some springs to lower it though. The TRD or maybe H&R Sport would be a good option to limit the drop. You may still have to be careful on driveway slopes and stuff... but not as bad as some others out there.

(btw, I'm about an hour+ west of you)

^^ well you could always go with a mild drop.. say like the TRD springs..they only drop about half of what most springs do. Or you could go with adjustable coilover setup...but thats a lot more pricy. Im sitting on Hotchkis, which is a full 2 inch drop front and rear...but I also am not putting on a full body kit either.

if you want good prices...say for the TRD for a more mild drop... check out TRD Sparks online. they usually beat anyone else's pricing.

Eh... not really. Most of the action is down towards NYC or NJ. There's usually something at Raceway Park in NJ a couple times a year. And there might also be a little meet at Palisades or something towards the city. You'd have to check the Northeast forum for that stuff though.

Being even farther away from that stuff than you, I rarely get out that way - though I did go to one of the Scion VIP events last year and it was a lot of fun.

Okeyy and sorry I'm just getting into this but like what's the Scion VIP? Hopefully I'm not sounding like a huge tool.

Scion VIP is basically a bunch of events throughout the year that Scion corporate sponsors that usually include a car show and other free stuff and may or may not be side by side with other events (drag races, theme parks, etc).

The last one I went to was the Scion Campout at Rye Playland. Pretty cool. And have been to another one at Raceway Park, like I mentioned - that was on a drag race weekend with a whole LOT of other people and events.

scionvip.com - though I don't think anything is planned yet for this year, last I looked anyway.

Look at the bright side as well. A TRD drop is much closer to optimal for the cars geometry (2 inches is too low for handling purposes) so you get a nice looking drop that actually handles better And with TRD you shouldnt worry much about scraping. HR Sport is right at the optimal drop (1.4") I think but I dont know the spring rates for them. Most all of the lower springs are not only too low, but too soft was well. And as mentioned, coilovers will be overkill (especially on the wallet) if you arent worried about corner balancing and really tuning the suspension.

No, you can do them yourselves. just need a spring compressor which can be rented at autozone or anything like that.

And to contribute, lower it.

They're not bad... like mentioned, "borrow" one of the spring compressors from Autozone and find a friend with a garage and some jackstands.

I would put a honda s2000 antenna on. I think it looks better with the lines of the car. Other then the drop, that is all that I would do. I'm jelous of your rims and grille, that is my favorite RS.

You should of just gotten an OEM CF hood. The kaminari hood looks horrible without the rest of the kit.

um that's why I mentioned those as a last option. for what he wants TRD should work just fine. I dont know what springs you are referring to being to soft and what-not...but I've have Hotchkis on both of my tC's and they are nice and stiff and handle very well performance wise... plus I do have both the front and rear sways so that helps too.
I do agree...while some lowering springs may look nice for show... if you go so far that you're tucked...performance and handling is going to suffer.

TRD springs give just enough lower look and comfy ride and should be fine on NY roads.

The hood is definitely worth it, it's beautiful. And you definitely need a drop. The TRD is nice and subtle, and once you learn how to drive a lowered car, you should be able to avoid scraping.
