I would love to get a new xB, but I am not the worlds greatest millionaire. Just enough to make by for now. How much is everyones payments? I know the scion website has a finance area, but it doesnt let you type in your down payment amount. I am hoping to get around 3k (trade in) for my current car plus about another 2 in cash down.. . .

Well, mine will be paid off this year... My payment is $300, but I pay about $1000 a month... I had to finance cuz I didn't have $18,000 up front, but I could never set up a finance plan with a $1000 a month payment! Even though I can afford it, that would be cutting it close.
Also, I can take a month off and pay my regular $300, and spend $600 on mods :D

Oh yeah, to stay on topic, don't purchase dealer-made products (i.e pedals, cargo covers, rim packages etc) because will only increase the ammount of your montly payment. But who knows, maybe it IS possible to get a good deal on a set of rims/tires through your dealership, with a warranty maybe too.

Not a divorce, but I had a coke head room mate that
left me with lots of bills.
I'm going to have to deal with 12%, but like they say,
proving yourself with a car payment will help get your credit
back on track.
Think of it this way, you are getting a fun, reliable, and
warrantied box for not a terrible lot of money, and getting
your credit on track all in one!
At least that's what I keep telling myself. :)

Also, if you go to scion.com, and build your Scion, there's a box on the left, under "Your Monthly Payment" that says "Customize Payment Terms". Click on it and you can adjust APR, trade in value, sale price, down payment, and finance terms.

What is gap insurance and what is it for?
If you're involved in an auto accident that leaves your new car "totalled", (we all hope this never happens,) you could end up paying off a loan on a car that you can't even drive.
That's where gap insurance comes in.
A gap car insurance policy insures you for the difference between what you owe on your car and what your insurance company says it's worth.
Lonely_Raven
01-31-2005, 02:23 PM
Yeah, GAP is even more of a gamble then regular insurance.
Using my example above, my interest is $3885 and the
minute I drive the box off the lot it's gone from $19,500
to $15,000. So if I were to get in a "total" accident in
the first week, I'd have to pay off the $3880 plus the
difference of $4500 of the "used" price. The GAP would
cover all that difference that insurance wouldn't cover.

Yeah, I'm going to do without. I've been in two serious
accidents in 16 years I've been driving. (the second one
was two weeks ago and why I'm shopping for a box). Both
times were other peoples fault, and they only hit me because
I didn't have time enough to dodge them.
For those that are in high risk areas, GAP could save you

When my dad bought a new car from Ford they told him that he needed GAP insurance. When my dad took the car to the insurance company and ask them about GAP they said that was a bunch of BULL. The insurance company said you have an insurance policy with us on your last car so you will be insured from the minute you drive off that dealership.

From the heart, I would suggest that you reconsider going without GAP insurance. I'm sure that it varies in cost slightly, but mine was a one time fee of $120. It's well worth the peace of mind. I work in the collision industry and have seen MANY people get caught without GAP. I've seen people literally cry when they find out the difference that they owe. Not pretty at all.
Just a friendly word, from one car guy to another.
