Anyone else notice that Honda Element drivers stare? Ive been given mean stares by nearly every Element that has passed. I wonder if its because they think theyre superior (HA!), or because they regret getting one of those and wish they were smart enough to get an xB  . I dunno, just thought id throw that out there to see what everyone else has to say.

I really hadn't noticed. It seems like, if anyone, non-box drivers give it a good look. I had some hillbilly driving a jacked up f-250 start laughing at the box while we were passing through a Wal-mart parking lot. Guess he found it funny that I didn't need to drive something capable of carrying a 325lb wife and bales of hay around the city. Yee haw!

They weigh 3300+ lbs. They have more power per pound then we do.

Oh, well... everyone I know says the xB looks classier because it's not half plastic.

A guy at work has an Element. He calls it his "box", and talked about it all the time. That was until I showed up with the REAL box. He wanted to know all about it. I really didn't tell him too much, but let other people check it out. Word of mouth got back to him, and he stays real tight lipped about his box now. Especially when I told him I was getting around 32 miles to the gallon, and he said the most he ever saw was 21 on a trip.

Don't get me wrong, but the Element is a heck of a vehicle. I'd love to have one. But at the price, and the 4 wheel drive, I think the xB is way nicer.

Here in the North East, i noticed that a lot of the Element owners wished they had one of the xBs. I have actaully had a couple of Honda owners come up to me and ask what was it, and how much was it. They dont like the fact that i have more standard equipment and paid less then what they have paid for their "box wannabe's".

From the price, to the look, to the style, i think Toyota nailed it with the Scion xB. Sits lower, looks boxier, and overall just gets it done. JMO.

My neighbors across the street from me have 2 elements (Or as i call them, Honda Elementes!) And a guy at work as an element and regrets getting his; which didn't come w/ some standard features the xb has.

And i hate it when ppl say my car looks like they elemente. Um, lets see here.....!

Jealous Element owners are to be expected. Honda had the right idea with the Element but they played it "too safe"... too conservative. As a result, they made a vehicle that intended to be hip and unique but fell just a little short.

The Scion xB delivers with over-the-top styling, price, and value. Mini Cooper does too. (VW's new Beetle failed)

Element owers (not everyone, but for the most part "many") see the xB as delivering on the vehicle they thought they were purchasing with the Element.

It would be the same if something was released that was even more over-the-top than the xB. A few of us would feel a little envious of those with THAT vehicle.

I seemed to get A LOT of looks at wal mart, not of the positive kind either, little kids seem to like the car and jump up and down pointing, while their parents just grin in that mocking sorat way....they're just jealous ;)

The non-existant b-pillar on the element is interesting. Other than that, the xB is in every way a better car. I wouldn't drive an element even if I won one in a contest or something - I'd just sell it. That plastic all over the outside is FUGLY!!

I'm not even an xB owner, although that might change in a couple more months.

True... but we gotta cut them some slack. It's not entirely their fault. ;)

When I saw my first Element I remember thinking, "hmmm, that is one ugly vehicle, but there is something about it that makes me WANT to like it." I couldn't put my finger on it.... until I saw the xB and then thought, "Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about!".

But imagine the poor Element buyer who needed a car (either before the xB was available in their area or before they even heard about Scion) who then discovers the xB. Imagine the heartache they must be feeling every time they get behind the wheel... every time they pass an xB on the road.... it must be tough for them.

So instead of ridiculing them, we should have compassion for them. Because let's face it... it's easier for US to have campassion... WE are the ones driving xBs!
(besides we don't want xB drivers to get a reputation of being conceited d**kheads, do we? :( )

You know, if I had the extra $6-7 thousand lying around(better put= willing to make the larger car payment) I would have seriously looked at an element. I've got nothing against the element. I personally like the styling although the plastic should at least be the same color as the rest of the car. I think the lack of a b-pillar is real convenient for loading things, and like the idea of being able to hose the floor off. It would have been nice to get one in that burnt orange color or whatever it's called.

But, I am real happy with the xb. The gas mileage is great, payment is livable, and so on.

well the elements are cool minus the too low to be an suv ride height and the ugly grey plastic. i hate honda's but if they fixed those two things id rock one. that and the weird rearward slope towards the end of the roof. like the new pathfinders and armadas and infiniti thing.
