Default Im building a sub box help

Right now i have made this box 17 by 17 by 24. im putting a 12 in kicker L7 in it. also im porting it. im thinking of making 34 hertz with the length being 15.5 and the width being 1.5. then the depth being 14.5 so does this sound right i really am not sure but thats how i am tuneing it. PLEASE HELP!!!

yeah that sounds big, i just made a fiberglass encloser and it was smaller than it should have been but still sounds pretty good

No your box does not sound too big. Kickers like a big box and that is only medium size for those subs. My quick math estimates that you will have about 2.8 cu ft. net and yes your current port length is absolutly correct.

The only thing i would change is the port width, 1.5 inches is a little small. I would try to up it to 2 inches, this will cut a little off of your net volume and the port will need to be a little longer but you will be much happier with out the port noise. General rule is to have 12-16 square inches of port cross section area per cu fu. Trust me on this issue, I have two 12" l7's in my trunk each with about 2.5 cu ft net and tuned to about 35hz
