Default got rear ended last night : (

so i was coming home from wawa and i was stopped at a red light with my blinker on to go left. i glance in my rearview and see a guy pull up behind me, light turns green and i inch up a lil bit so traffic can pass and BOOM. im like holy crap what just happened. then we pull over and inspect the damage

i told the guy i was never in an accident and told him i was gonna call the cops, he said no dont call them. i went to get a pen and paper to write down his info when a cop pulled up.

so cops talkin to us and we find out the the guy is on his way to a bar and hes taking antipsychotics and some other stuff.

so after 2 more cops show up, he sends me on my way and i turned around and i see them making the guy walk a straight line and whatnot.

this morning when i was gettin the police report, i saw that his car was still on the side of the road. looks like he got arrested.

heres some pics of the damage

i got the police report but the address and phone is blacked out. so should i wait a day or 2 to see if he calls me so he can write me off a check so it doesnt go thought his insurance or just straight up report it.

hmmm damage doesnt seem that bad. you should have the insurance cut you a check and put it towards a five axis kit.

One thing to be careful of is your insurance rates going up. Its bull____ but I got into a not-at-fault accident and my rates went up almost $500/6 months.

Just my two cents, it will be quicker to go through the insurance company but it will cost you in the long run being under 25.

Were you rear ended at a stop light or stop sign?
Because if you were, you will be found 100% not at fault, and youre insurance will not go up. Any time you are rear-ended you should go through insurance because there is NO reason not to. Your car will get fixed and depending on your insurance, they will pay for a rent-a-car for the time youre without your vehicle. Also, a body shop will find more damage than what can just be seen from the outside and fix everything that needs to be fixed.

I was rear ended at a stop light, it was found 100% not at fault and my insurance still went up. I am just saying to be careful with it.

Even going to his insurance company, yours will most likely be contacted about it. It is then their discretion if they persue anything. My ex was an insurance agent and that is what she is telling me.

Who is your insurance through? If you have crap insurance, they may pull that kind of ____e.
If it's "no-fault", you shouldn't have to pay a dime. You may have to pay for a rental car, but the
insurance company should reimburse you the costs.
