So I was waxing my xB today and noticed that there is a portion of the rear driver's side door which is rough to the touch. Rough is not the quite word as it is barely noticeable, but it is not as smooth as the surrounding area. The area is only noticeable by touch. It looks perfectly uniform.

What could be the cause? First off, it's not the wax or dirt. It's totally clean. Secondly, I was tagged in the bumper recently and a portion of the rear quarter panel had to be repainted under the bumper on the same side as the rough paint. Do I have some overspray? If so, I know clay will take it off, but I have never used it or ever even seen someone do so, so I am a little hesitant to try it. Is there anything else to take it off. If I am looking at overspray, I'll just go back to the body shop, they're easy to work with.

Basically I am wanting to know if it could be overspray. I do not have any experience in this matter, so I don't know what it looks or feels like. I never waxed the car before today, so I can't say if it was there before the painting. I did not notice any roughness anywhere else today.

if it is bumps, then those are put there so that road debris doesn't mess up that portion of the car.

Yeah, sounds like overspray. If the body shop is easy, swing it by and ask them. They probably just didn't tape it off tight or something.

You know what "Blackstar" had the same thing with his car when we first met and he just finished buying the car. He took it back to the dealership, they Clay'd it and it was all gone. something has to do from when they transport thies vehicles or factory flaw. but clay will rid of it. I know for sure cause I went to pick him up at the dealership to give him a ride home in my xB when it happened. So I felt the problem and I felt the result of claying it. problem solved.

should read better. it sounds like overspray. you need to get a clay bar and that will clear it right up

Sounds like overspray to me as well. Try a clay bar to see if that does the trick for ya :wink:

Thanks for all your help, I'll try the bodyshop first and then the dealership and see who wants to clay it for free. The problem is not enough for me to invest money into fixing it..
