Default Totaled the tC, thinking about an xB1, what to look for?

I just totaled my tC (damn deer). I realy liked my Scion so I'm thinking about another, this time an xB1. Everyone I talk to hates them, which makes me like them even more. What should I be looking out for (problem areas) when buying used? I found a nice RS 2.0 to take a look at. Thanks for any help!

There aren't any significant problem areas per se... I guess it depends on who the prior owner was. Run a carfax report on it to see if it's been in any collisions, etc...

How many miles on the 2.0? Asking price?

Thanks for the Carfax reminder, I forgot about that one. 2.0 has 29k, 5-speed, for $10,900.

Ooh, nice. Try to get em down another 500 bucks or so, but even at that price, with that mileage, not bad.

Any cosmetic issues?

Not that I saw, it's pretty much mint. It has some really ugly rims on it, no rash or anything, just the wrong style.

those rims might be someone else's style, might be able to sell them and use that $$ towards some sweet ones

just make sure you take it for a test drive, first gen xb's lack power of the tc, also, their VSC can be annoying from what i've read, i hate traction control systems.

Same here, never had a problem with mine.

Get that RS2 and join the Yellow Toaster Mafia. There really are no problem areas with the xB. It really depends on how the previous owner treated it.

You can turn off the traction control... it actually makes the box a bit quicker. The VSC can't be turned off, but it only activates when your back end swings out... so if you're not going to autocross, it'll be fine.

My VSC has kicked in maybe 6 times since I've owned the box, and it was only during turns in the snow.

Mine has kicked in under super hard cornering with my hard compound tires and only a couple times in th snow. Never heard a peep from it while auto-xing.

That's what it supposed to do Ian.
When you are turning, the outside wheel is spinning faster than the inside wheel and so sometimes, especially in the snow, you'll lose traction because of this.

In deep snow I lose momentum because of VSC. Gets really annoying having to fight that and snow. Robs power from the engine like crazy, too. I usually disconnect it during the winter.

Oh, I know that. I was just saying, I hardly consider it to be a nuisance.

And turning off the Trac will make the car quicker off the line. It doesn't have to try to prevent wheelspin, so it's more responsive.

How do you disconnect it, Scott?
