Happened with my iPod touch too, i don't think there's a way to fix it though. Just buy a car charger and charge it when you're not listening to it.

you can spend some money on a griffin or scosche adapter
which will be about $30-40

http://www.griffintechnology.com/pro...-usb-converter
http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1667

or if you're a handy person.. buy about $2-5 worth of parts and components.. and hack the ipod wiring in the car...

i'm actually in process of doing that to my ipod cable.. still missing some stuff.. but yeah.. i'm not gonna spend $20-40 when i can build something myself for much, much cheaper.

i dont know why apple changed that. older accessories and peripherals wont charge the newest gen of ipods. my wife chose not to buy a new (4th gen) nano because it wont charge on our home stereo's ipod dock (sticking with her old 2nd gen nano)

Have you tried charging it w/ A/C charger in a regular wall socket not a computer, might work.
