Can it be done? I was told the dipstick might get in the way?

What do you guys think?

Anyone with automatics have them now?

Yeah, thank you.

I saw a dirt cheap one on ebay and picked it up anyway.

Before I just went and looked at placement on the engine and it seems like enough room.

All the descriptions on any of them say fits all xa/xb.

you may run into trouble if you have an aftermarket intake, but you can fab up a way to make it work - the tbs pushed the intake mount farther away, but you can make it work..
too bad the tbs dont do much for our engines, more of a placeabo effect.. we dont have throttle body injection, so the tbs is more for show. no one has yet to post up dyno mumbers that substantieate the tbs on our engines, specifically companies selling them for our engines.

Yea, place me in the 'skeptical' column when it comes to tbs.

Its a DCE brand.

Design Caos Engineering, something like that.

once someone can post up some positive numbers that shows a gain, i'll be the first to buy :)

it is important to underastand the function of the tbs and how it is supposed to help make gains..

on carborated engines or throttle body injection type engines, the function of the tbs is to #1 provide a little more air space for the gas coming out of the carb jet to mix with the air being sucked in, creating a more even mix of fuel + air before being sucked into the intake manifold. #2, in larger hotter engines, the tbs can be used as a cooling controll and they help prevent the throttle body from absorbing excess heat from the intake manifold. not really sure how that helps though, as we have a throttle body coolant line that helps keep the throttle body cooler..

our engines have Direct Port Injection, so the fuel is sprayed into each cyllinder before the compression stroke, ellimating the need for the "tornado" type devices that swirl fuel and air together (these work great in carborated engines)... Most tbs have swirl cuts inside or helical cuts that help tp spin air as it passes through the tbs, which in itself isnt bad, but i dont see how big gains could be made in theory on our engines with a device like this.

if anyone has dyno numbers though, please post up before and afters... there are lots of affordable tbs's out there... if we could get even 5hp.... i would get one, but untill it's proven with real numbers and not "seat of the pants dyno" on the 1nzfe, i'll stay skeptical..

I noticed that DCE was the first around for xB.
I have never seen a DCE on ebay before and for only 40 dollars. So I went for it.

Whether is works or not is really not the question for me.

Will it fit an auto is what I am talking about on this post.

That clubxB thread gave me a friggin tumor. All that stupid bickering. 17 pages.

I hate that site.

But it does fit with tickering, so sez the thread. That is worth something I guess.

not an automatic.. but here's what I did to make the SRI mount adapt to the new length:

^You can see the red tab I made from some scrap.. I didnt do this at first, and the rubber mount split within days..

Here's a look at the TB.. this will all change dramatically on Saturday.. :lalala:

I really hate to bring this up, and will not argue about it.. but I posted a dyno I did.. well 3 runs actually.. I was told I was full of crap, the machine lied, there's no way, etc.,. but me and the shop and those that see the box in action know different.. anyway the only difference between me and the next bolt on's box is the TB spacer.. I havn't run it with and without the TB spacer specifically yet, but I like mine.. placebo or not

Anyone with automatics have them now?It can be done but why? It doesn't add enough performance to make a difference for the money or time spent. :lalala:

Because I can?
I have the 40 dollars.
The install is part of the fun with the xB.
Key word in your post is "enough".
I will take whatever enough is.

Enough is enough sometimes. :P

You gonna add one of those Tornado intake things too? They should both make about the same amount of power for ya.
