title pretty much says it all. i have HIDs in my scion tc and they dont seem to be very bright. maybe its just because the streets are all illuminated with street lights but they dont seem to be very bright unless it is pitch dark and even then they dont seem very bright. maybe its just my vision but it seems like when i first put them in my car they were brighter (about 3-4 months ago). help please!

 

which headlights, what temp HID's?

how many watts 35 or 55, thank you for giving me a heads up, know i know to buy 55w..or is it 50w?

 

 

But also they are not going to look amazingly bright when you are on a well lit street. Those lights in general are more powerful.

i see posts of people who put up their car and hids and all and mine dont look anywhere close to as bright as theirs. any ideas?

 

dude..hids look bright from the outside and in pictures. you are sitting inside so you see the lightest part of it and here are other lights fading out the lights coming from your car. its normal, i thought i had same problem.

 

Plus you have 6k which aren't the brightest, yea aren't bad but not the best

 

People don't generally buy HIDs for the best visibility (especially about about 5k). They buy them for the "look." If you want visibility, get a lower temp or just something like some Silverstars or equivalent.

 

well my friend who has the same lights, his are a lot brighter. he has a 07 honda civic though. this may sound really noobish but who do projectors do? is that the difference? i dunno it just seems like my lights dont do anything at all. like the stock yellow ones were a lot brighter.

 

Is your tc an 08? If so, than your homie's hids may seem brighter on his civic because of all the extra glare he's giving off from having an hid in a non projector headlight housing.

 

Switch to 4300k you'll see much better

Projectors make a HUGE difference. The projector lens shapes the beam to give even dispersion across the beam pattern. Traditional reflector light housings will give dim and bright spot areas. Also, check your headlight alignment. If you're aiming your lows too high, it won't light up the pavement properly near the car and will look dim.

 

ive had 08 headlights w/ 6000k hids, tsx hid projector retrofit headlights w/ 4300K OEM bulbs, and 05 headlights w/ 5000K hids.

Id have to say that from my personal experience, tsx hid retrofit > 05 headlights w/ 5000K > 08 headlights w/ 6000K , in terms of brightness

05s look bright because they splash light directly in front of you and send out glare all around. 08's are more uniform and clean because of the cutoff and you dont glare people as bad. Im thinking of going back to tsx projector retrofits soon and selling my 08s.

 

hmm thanks a lot guys. any ideas of how to make them brighter? or another headlight that would make it brighter
