Default Nav System Error - Please Insert correct Map DVD

I lost my navigation dvd (expensive mistake, I know..). I tried some things I found online to burn a copy of a disc, and I had no luck. And now, I have an error on my screen that says "Program Cannot Be Read. Please Insert Correct Map DVD". I have no way to get past this error, and I cannot use my radio, ipod, etc. Even though I didnt have the map dvd before, it still worked until I Tried loading the burned discs. Any suggestions on how to bypass this? I just want my radio back!

Thanks in advance.

first what kind of radio is it? brand/model

try resetting the radio, most in dash radios have a small reset button that can be pressed with a ballpoint pin.. if not.. disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for about 30 seconds.. or unplug the radio.. see if that works.. otherwise you may not have burnt the disc correctly.. if i had it i'd make you a copy but i do not =(

Im actually not sure. All I know is it was the factory Nav system from Scion, and it was installed when I bought the car last year. I did disconnect the battery for some time, and it still did not fix the problem.

hmm... best thing i can tell you is to find another place to get the disc from.. or maybe you could persuade a fellow SL member to burn and send you a "backup" to "test" your unit ;)

i would never tell anyone to make illegal copies of their disc... >.>

If you have the scion nav system that came with the car, and just misplaced the disk, you ARE legally entitled to have a backup disk. So if someone can give you a copy of the original disk you are not doing anything Illegal.

I have the NAV system and I actually tried to make a backup. I copied the NAV disc image to my computer and then burned it to a dual-layer DVD-R since it woun't fit on a single layer disc. There were no issues whatsoever with ripping or burning. But when I tested the copy it wouldn't work. I believe I got the same error message as you.

But I was and still am able to use the rest of the radio's functions (CD, iPod, AM/FM, etc.) I don't know why inserting a copy would lock out your head unit.

If I can help in any way let me know. I'll try a different method of copying and see if it works. I want to be able to keep the original DVD in a safe place if possible and just use a copy in the car.

burn it on it's slowest settings.. did you use an iso program to burn the disc? or did you just drag the single iso file on the disc and burn? that would cause an issue as well.. but when i had previous navi units in cars i would always burn on the slowest setting because the fastest setting would cause errors.. after my first navi unit *avic-n1* got it's discs scratched i realized backups were the way to go lol

I used an ISO program to burn the Iso, but I did it at 4x (I think) and not the slowest setting). The burn itself seemed to work fine without errors, but I get what you're saying. I will try again. Thanks!

I used TOAST on my Mac to make a toast image of the DVD, then burned it as a data disc using TOAST again. I'll try a different method and let you know how it turns out.

Any suggestions? I guess the first thing I'll try is a straight up disc copy.

I got mine fixed. I Called the dealer, and the scion manager loaded his NAV dvd into my system and it now works again! I still do not have the nav disc, so the GPS does not work, but at least I have my audio back!
