So I am bringing a friend with me to meet up with Curtis. It is her first time going to Portland so I want to find something fun to do for awhile while we are up there.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Depends on what you like to do... There are good bars if you like to drink, nice malls if you like to shop, theres the farmers market, i'm not sure if the saturday market is open yet but that place is always interesting to roam around.

Well I may be bringing my god-daughter up with her. So the strippers are out of the question. Plus she is under 21, so bars are out of the question too.

Okay, she wants to see the sites. What would you guys recommend? We might swing by OaksPark later in the day but she want so check out some of the sites in the portland area.

What is something fun I could take a 20 year old and possibly a 2 year old to.

I always thought that portland was PTL. Not PDX

PDX.

OMSI really is a good bet, and I always head for Saturday Market in season.

Well it's spring break so anywhere is going to be busy! But all are good idea's. Another is Washington Park's Rose Garden. It's near the Zoo and Downtown Portland.

Also there is a Children's museum Right next to the Zoo

PDX.

Actually it's NOT. It's used by some now a days, but it's actually supposed to be just for the airport.

I think he's referring to PDX

Redbeard46
03-28-2009, 04:58 AM
Huh?

PDX is actually the acronym for Portland international airport. There are some people that use it generally for the Portland area, but that's actually an incorrect usage.

Tomas

There are many, many abbreviations for major cities such as Portland - when I worked for the largest communication company in the US, the "Common Language Location Identifier" (CLLI) for Portland was PTLDOR, thing is, outside the telephone companies in North America, not many other outfits used CLLI.

Worldwide, the most common identifier, most widely recognized by more people, is probably "PDX" since airlines and travel agents use it worldwide, as do many government agencies.

I'm sure there are many other common abbreviations used by progressively smaller and smaller groups of people.

Sorry for misunderstanding the objection. :)

You're lucky, from what I just heard on the radio yesterday, our great govenor is actually thinking of pushing a STATE income tax, on top of our nations highest sales tax.
as of now we have no state income tax.

Come on.........the crypt keeper has done a fine job of doing nothing........lets see we are now at 7 years debating what to do with the Viaduct, and spent millions of dollars deciding what to do and now that they decided on a tunnel they need to spend millions more to decide when to start building the tunnel........fine job.

Government has got to stop.......we need to put time lines on projects.........goodness 6 months should of been plenty long enough to decide between tunnel or raised road......

fine job.

Actually the Zoo kinda sucks right now as 1/2 of it is closed for construction but this summer it will be complete and be better. No lions, 6 bears ( 2 grizzly, 2 polar, 2 sun), Monkeys and Apes stay inside (due to construction), 5 elephants (1 baby), 2 tigers (they stay close to each other due to construction on the tiger cage). I take Gracen every nice Friday to the Zoo for something to do.

BZinn1
03-28-2009, 09:13 PM
Dang under construction sucks.......it is a nicely laid out zoo....up here we have the Pt Defiance Zoo and Aquarium and although there is a lot to see it is kinda ehhhhhh at times.....weather plays a big role in how the animals are.

mattross
03-28-2009, 09:24 PM
Yeah. We got a Zoo membership for x-mas so we can get my family of 3 plus 2 guests when ever we want to go. So we go as often as we can. I'm hoping to have a Scion sponsored event there later in the summer when the whole thing is open. Maybe a PDX mini exposed event (any dealers interested in this? PM me).
