Default Squeaky and rattly trunk on '06 TC

Hello,

I just bought an '06 TC about a week ago. Since day 1, this car has has this incredible obnoxious squeak coming from the trunk. I removed the Styrofoam pieces from the trunk that hold the jack and whatnot in place. It still squeaks. I'm beginning to think it may be the seal around the trunk, perhaps?

Also, this is accompanied by a loud rattle when I go over larger bumps. I've checked my license plate cover and it's pretty secure. I think it's something else.

Any suggestions?

Honestly, I'm not quite sure. All I know is that it's definitely coming from the rear of the car.

It's a part of owning a tC. There are numerous threads on how to fix the various rattles.

open your trunk... see that two panel what you can take off to change the bulbs... closer to the center on the wall there is two D shaped rings bolted... those D rings can be moved around a little bit.. those made lots of noise so i took them off. rattle noise.

I removed the two D-shaped rings that sit inside the trunk behind the taillights. I also adjusted the two rings that are on the floor of the trunk behind the rear seats. I just moved them so that they're up and away from the hard plastic base that they sit it.

Those two changes fixed the rattle. However, I still have the squeak. I think it's the seal around the hatch. Is there something I could rub on the seal so it squeaks less?

That post by Yanki01 is a good idea for the DIY'er ....but also on the 05-06 tC's there were actual TSB's for both the rear hatch rattle..and also for the sunroof too.
Call your dealer and see if your VIN is one that would be covered to have them fix it under the TSB..... or just try what Yanki01 did on his.
