I'm having an internal debate at the moment, I plan on changing the paint on my TC pretty soon but am stuck between 2 color so I'm hoping y'all can help me and steer me toward a better decision. The two color up in debate right now are a FLAT BLACK paint scheme, or a red paint scheme. The red would probably be custom because I dont like some reeds that are too bright or look orange in the sun I would have to have omething mixed up I really wanted a red one when I first got it but the TC don't come in that color. Black is okay but i didnt want ordinary black but I love the FLAT BLACK it looks clean. So please give me some insight.[/img][table:3402ffca09][/table:3402ffca09][table:3402ffca09][/table:3402ffca09]

Flat black would be nice...with some bronze rims! Make a poll

I think you have difficult options. That is... I don't think flat black would look very good on the tC - I'm just guessing on that though, b/c I don't think I've actually seen it.

As for the red, also consider the RS 1.0 tC was "Absolutely Red" and you might end up with people getting confused by it or thinking you're impersonating an RS 1.0 or something. Not that you would be, but again, it's supposed to be a "special edition" kind of color for the tC.

I would be curious to see the tC in flat black though.

Flat black is INCREDDDDDDDDDDDDDIBLY difficult to take care of, & expensive. First off, rock chips are inevitable & look terrible, & with that comes touch ups, you'll never get an exact touch up match on flat paint. Secondly, how do intend on washing the car?

^ Also good points. I could see how it would be difficult to maintain the flat paint. Doesn't seem like such a good "daily" vehicle color.

It was like a matte dark grey color.

Here is a tC with matte black.

Looks awesome but wouldn't want the hassle of keeping it clean. I am pretty sure it show finger prints easily and all that stuff kisskisskill said.

^^I like it when it is clean but when it starts to get old it just looks like primer too me. But I agree it looks better on other cars.

Go red. I am probably saying this since red is one of my favorite colors. I wanted a red tC when I bought my car, but I didn't like the red that they had. I liked the red they had on the RS.

My brother has a Jeep Grand Cherokee in Inferno Red, I love it. When it is all waxed up and in the sun it is amazing.

Matte/flat finishes are nice. They look sick if they are maintained and have the right set of wheels and such. but I always like something that I can put a good coat of wax on and show it off on a nice day.

PS the darker the color you go the harder it will be to wax your car due to the fact that white wax will stick in the chips spots on the hood and such. The other thing is finger prints (don't think this effects matte/flat finish or not) and dust.

I don't think it looks good matte black, but if you like it, go for it, but it's definitely not something you wanna rock on a daily driver. Like I said, touchups won't ever match no matter how good the painter is, & you can't clear bra it cuz clear bra = glossy.

p.s. that girls makeup reminds me of Amy Winehouse =/, her eye color's gorgeous though.

i don't like matte colors. Cause i like shiney cars. but i saw in your other thread that you wanted the same body kit as cynce's(sp) car. so if you go red.. o.o it would look identical-ish?

AngHellicTc

cynce's tc's color red is the nicest color on the planet for the tc IMO. get some tinted tails and black wheels, tinted windows...

yep.

I would think you might be able to get a custom clear bra with the no glare type of film. I've seen iphone screen protectors with the no glare and it would keep the no gloss flat black.
I have been wanting to do the flat black, but I would need it to have a good no gloss clear coat.

that zele z34 is jawdropping, its amazing what a real nice aero kit can do to a car, i hate the original FANG's on the oem bumper, lol

but thats not really orange, more like yellowish brownish orange, not lambo orange,

but someone on here has a tc with a orangish color, he had stock wheels and a viniati spoiler i think!

i dig that flat black Tc but i dont get why it would be hard to take care of ... the touching up part i can understand ...

being a porter (wannabe detailer) for a harley davidson dealership we get a lot of flat colored bikes that come in and they are by far the easiest to clean .. wash em and wipe em down with windex afterwards .. is there something i'm not getting?

Domo
04-14-2009, 10:44 PM
windex? Wouldnt that make the flat color even more dull?

PeterPanda
04-15-2009, 01:17 AM
in the 8 months i've been there i havent seen it happen ... yet
will it eventually? who knows i sure dont

Domo

from my knowledge, windex contains ammonia which is horrible for paint and only good on glass.

Ro_Ja
04-15-2009, 01:30 AM
I know a lot of people that use Windex on flat paints. But I know what you mean, and yes, it isn't good for normal paint.

She was saying no such thing exists. And as far as I know, all clear bras or coats will create a gloss effect.

Im going to have to agree. Mine WAS a DD and this is my third time repainting my bumper for rock chips. and for cleaning it, it all depends on what clear you use. Im using PPG and i cant use ANY product with a wax in it or the paint will start to shine. Alsa has a Flat clear that i was told is alittle better. and Diesel used BASF Flat Paint clear.
