I need to know the size bolt that connects the header to the spipe, I was trying to get my header to fit better to my spipe, took it all apart and the bolts disappeared on me!!!! I used some zipties and wires to try to make it stay connected so I could go to work but it sounds like a incredibly loud dying lawnmower. I need to know the exact specifications on the bolts to buy them at a hardware store or a way to make the header and spipe fit together until I can buy new bolts online. I was thinking about getting some metal clamps and clamping them together, but I don't know if that would work. Thanks for any help!!!!

 

i would go to the dealership tomorrow... the headers that connected to the S-pipe uses spring bolts.. and they're gonna be hard to get. I believe they are both 14mm bolts tho..

 

I mainly need to now the thread size, I can probably get it to fit together without spring bolts.

 

Im not 100% sure but I think spring bolts are used because the motor, and everything else on the exhaust side, flexes when you accelerate. The spring bolt is used to help the joints flex and not break..

You need to get those bolts from the dealer, a hardware store isn't going to have bolts like that, it's not a normal joint...

 

lol trust me u want the spring bolts...

 

trust me...it is best that you DO get the proper bolts with the retainer, tensioner spring. since the piping is on a hanger system to allow for movement from vibrations and from the engine movement as well... having those springs will help keep them from vibrating loose over time....or possibly break from repeated stress. that is why they were designed to be on there in the first place.
