Default Need a new condenser

I haven't had this car for 2 months yet and I got a rock through my condenser. A/C is shot. Took it to the dealer and they said to fix it, it would be $1169.00. The service tech was telling me that they have this problem with the XB's Camry's and older Celicas because the grill is more open and the condenser is exposed. Has this happened to anyone or is it just me? I have to find a new grill to put down there or make one. I have seen some of the mesh grills and don't know if I like them or not yet. Anyway, watch those little rocks out there.

this actually happened to my brother's 07 civic but never heard it happening to toyota's.

This is more of a common problem for Hondas

Did it leak over a few days or is there a hole in it? You can buy leak fill kits at most auto stores for less than ten bucks. I had a benz that had a leaking condensor that took a fe days to let out and that fixed it. I use a kit for rubber and metal leaks and a freon 134a and leak stop.

That happened to me 2 weeks after I bought mine. I called Scions customer service, and after a few conversations they agreed to pay my deductible. Now the stainless steel grill does its job.

Its been a while but figured I'd come back on and let you all know whats going on. I talked to Scion's customer support like Slav mentioned and with in 2 days of talking to them they agreed to pay for parts and I pay for labor. Not a bad deal since parts are over $850 and labor is $300. I wonder how many other people have had this problem and if they would ever recall it and replace the grill. I wouldn't think so because it seems like a loss on their side to make new grills and replace them all. Anyway thought I would let you all know their customer support is pretty easy to work with.
