Ok guys, so today can be summed up into 1 word crazy... heres my story: I'm heading from the dealership on the expressway from seeing the new R.S. tC.. I'm in the fast lane the speed limit is 60 which I'm doing .. there is a camry next to me in the slow lane.. and then there is the green Jeep Cherokee with the blacked out headlight covers , behind the Camry which wants to go faster so he gets behind me to move ahead . I'm not going to speed up so this dumb*ss can speed so he says forget it an drops back into the slow lane an goes on the shoulder an goes about 75 mph to get around the Camry.. kicking up rocks and dust then proceeds to cut off the Camry and me. get in my lane an throws on his brakes like 4 times trying to get me to wreck into the back of him .. I'm like literally a foot away from hitting this guy so I slow down an get over as i try to pass him he speeds up ..an him and his friend are yelling at me through rolled up his window(dumb f*ck).. an this goes on for the a half a mile so I call the police and tell em where we are an that he threatened me and almost caused 4 cars to wreck an I got his license plate #) ...the whole time he is flashing his hazards at me an finally he rolls down his window an says ," Don't get beat up dawg !!." So im like WTF ? I flip dude off.. an go on my way.. an he "fake" tried to follow me off the exit.. dumb@ss.. I hope he gets caught.. I wanted to pull over an beat his azz but I think they had a gun so I didn't mess with em.. :( now I really want a CCW.. but me & my tC are fine no damage no problems :)..

at least no one got hurt. I hate people like that. I've had similar things happen to me before.

Good for you for calling the cops! Hope he gets what's coming to him!

WARNING: Im going to play devils advocate here.

First off, what that driver did was stupid, and I IN NO WAY excuse his behavior. Cutting people off, short braking and the like is idiotic and unsafe, and is never justified IMO.

But, the law in CA (as it most likely is in Ohio, but I dont know for sure as I am in CA) says that it is a traffic infraction to drive continuously in the left lane of a multilane roadway when it impedes the flow of other traffic. Two wrongs dont make a right, and speeding in the left lane is wrong, but its also wrong to camp there and refuse to move to the right so faster-moving traffic can pass. If you would have moved over, the guy would have passed and none of this would have happened.

Im not giving you a hard time, just presenting the other side of the story, so dont take this the wrong way.

Sometimes you just have to speed up and let them go and hope there is a cop waiting for them...should have just sped up and got over...

Not that hard is it?

Fast lane is there for a reason, and those who choose to use it run the risk of speeding, but if your are getting passed by people on the right or going the same speed...move over.

Sorry, hit a pet peave haha

^ I see what you mean but ....The law also states the the speed limit for that area was posted 60 MPH which I was going exactly 60 mph.. a car cannot exceed that limit ... seeing as though it is the limit. so him going / or wanting to go above the posted limit just to pass me ,or just because.. and me not moving is not my problem because I was obeying traffic laws and not speeding and in the correct lane . Now if I was doing 50 mph an still in the left lane then I can defintely say your right but in this case that scenario is not valid.

ALSO ..No i wasnt getting passed by slower traffic I was doing 60 and the camry next to me had to be doing 55 I was slightly ahead.. but not enough to wear this guy could squeeze through and jump over..

hmm..didn't notice the fast lane part..I thought you were more in the middle on the right.

That being the case part of me does say you shouldn't have been in that lane only going 60..I understand that is the posted speed limit but the fast lane is not really the place to do it.

However - his behavior was definitely unnecessary and uncalled for and I still  you for calling the cops on someone driving that reckless.

I'll be the first one to say there is no such thing as a "fast lane"

All of the lanes on the road are meant to be traveled at the same rate of speed. There is no 50mph lane on the right and 60mph lane on the left.

However, as it has been stated on a multi-lane expressway, the left lane is meant for passing.

I don't condone the drivers disrespect and blatant disregard for the law but the situation would have went much smoother had you continued to go the speed limit, which you were doing, and simply moved over to the right to let the guy speed by.

Sometimes being the defensive driver rewards itself and simply by letting him go by all the recklessness could have been avoided.

here in jersey, the left lane is the Passing lane, (it is for passing only, ) if you are going with the traffic, you should be in the right lane.

what, you didnt know you have to be 39 to know everything? lol

i hear what you are saying though. a lot of the time on my 60mph commute, i either have get stuck behind people going 50 in the right and middle lane, or i have to do 75 in the left lane to get around them and risk getting nabbed by a cop around every other corner. it seems like other people are always in a hurry to go nowhere, like WOT from light to light, or they are in no hurry to go somewhere, which always seems to be the same place you are going and you have to get stuck behind them.

my favorite a-holes are the ones that weave from lane to lane in stop and go traffic on the freeway, and i pass them over and over by just staying in one lane. the look on their face is priceless everytime i go by.

No, I was speaking to you. You are the one who needs to grow up. It's not all about you. It's about being curteous to your fellow drivers. Sure the Jeep driver was in the wrong, more so even, but you share the blame.
The basic speed laws have been around longer than your great grandfather. It has nothing to do with the speed limit either. And if you tell me you NEVER go about the posted speed limit, you're lying, no ifs ands or buts about it.
Let me come right out and say it. You were, are and will continue to be wrong in this line of thinking. Keep right except to pass. Along the same vein, slower traffic keep right. Do it quickly and safely. It shouldn't take more than 20 seconds to pull out, pass and pull back in. Just think, if you had done that, this thread wouldn't even exist.
Too bad that basic concept has escaped quite a few drivers in the last 20 years.

^Bingo!

I agree 100%
If you are scared of getting nabbed by a cop, slow down, get behind the person you can't pass and stay there, let the people move along and take the risk. End of story

The only people who stick to the speed limit (or under it) are old people and asians (not racist, its true in SoCal lol).

I too highly doubt you've never gone above the speed limit. Also, I also agree that you were in the wrong for not speeding up and letting the guy pass you. Yes he was an absolute arsehole abut it, but you were impeding the flow of traffic since it seems to me like it was a two lane road.

Always move to the right when done passing a car. I do that now in SoCal. Only use the left lane to pass people and then move quickly out of it since people are usually racing up on my arse at 80mph. Oh and guess what, the speed limit here is 65 :P

You all have points which are understandable but by the same token there is no need to get upset about dumb shi* ahem (ajayaitch) an try to personally insult me when I clearly didnt do anything to you all in the first place.. I just told you my story and what transpired..an if you have a problem with me going the speed limit then thats fine dont come to Cincinnati..
