i live in NY and was wondering if i buy an injen or a K&N cold air intake will i not pass inspection?

 

You should be fine.

You will fail the visual inspection.

 

if you can put a cold air on from the factory (like the TRD) then you can put on an aftermarket and be fine.

 

The TRD one is not CARB legal either..if it does not have the CARB sticker on it it's not street legal..even if it is from the factory.

^^ i actually never really looked into it.. i was just assuming. I do have my inspection license here in PA and id pass it. If that makes you feel any better lol.. Most people will.

 

Not in Cali you won't . I'm just making the OP aware that a CAI isn't street legal and the law makes a CAI something that fails the visual inspection.

now depending on how strict you're inspections are (or how much they want for a bribe lol) you may or may not pass.

 

Cali laws are rough though. . We dont even have emission in my county, just visual inspections. Most places around my area are pretty cool about it though.

dont worry about it. As long as you pass emissions you'll be fine. My car is pretty illegal in NY visually but the shop I go to doesn't care.

 

yeah cali laws are pretty tough.. I passed visual inspection on my turbo tc, with open dump tube and no cats! lol

 

i take my car to a Cadillac dealer for inspection ( so i dont get introuble if im ever caught) . . they never give me a hard time about it. . i run open dump and no cats also.

 

^^ That too. I went to a Honda dealership and asked if they would have a problem with my HIDs. The guy just turned around and said. Its a scion at a honda dealership. We didn't know it didn't come stock with HIDs *wink wink* lol.

T R D to my understanding is legal in california because of the C A R B sticker it comes with the others do not have carb sticker making it not pass visual that is if the shop you go to knows what thry are looking at
