Default New to Scion Life

OK, I've only had my Scion TC for a couple months now but I have put a lot of miles on her already. I got into the car today and drove to work and when I got there it started to idle really rough and ultimately died. I started it back up and it was bouncing from 5-600 rpms to 1000 then almost die back to 5-600 and so on repetitively. The car has 120,000 miles and I just put fuel injector cleaner two tanks ago. I checked the main ground and it seemed ok (no corrosion at least). Sorry if this question has been asked I tried to search and I think I will try the ground wire kit that Mikochu posted for the XA but any other ideas???

I don't think a ground wire kit will do anything for you... not sure why you'd go that way.

Have you got any other mods? Intake? Header? Anything like that? Changed anything recently?

One suggestion would be to maybe disconnect the ground from the battery for a few minutes and connect again (reset the ECU) - then start the car and let it idle for about 10 min. It should relearn the air intake and hopefully straighten itself out.

I was going off of the thread 'Do I have a bad MAF' where he was experiencing somewhat similar problems. Only thing I have done to the car is I took off the muffler can in the back and opted for a straight pipe but that was over 2000 miles ago. Which in my opinion sounds good but only hurts your performance.

Default It Worked!

Well I'm a little mad it was so easy but glad it was free! Thank you for the help. Is it possible because of the change in weather or is it pretty common to have to reset the ecu?

Shouldn't have to reset the ECU for any particular reason... but the strange low idle sounded like that might help. Lucky for you I guess. Hopefully there aren't any larger issues and you'll be OK now.

I just ran fuel injector cleaner two tanks ago and I am careful to get gas at the nicer stations.

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times but how much could I put a turbo on and run less than 8lbs boost realiably and not blow my engine every other week?
