I want to place the radio/cd player in my 2005 xA Scion. The cd player often won't eject a cd and I want an ipod-friendly unit in there, so I bought a Dual SDM6350 stereo. But, I can't figure out how to remove the stock radio. I've seen pictures on other sites of pulling off the heater knobs and I've done that and removed the screws underneath, but my radio (2005 model) is mounted above the heater and has separate trim pieces. Removing those screws doesn't seem to help me. Any ideas? (I'm an electronics tech and once I get in there should have no problem.)
Keith
If its like my 06, you remove the screws under the knobs for the hvac, then its a tug of war. The both ventsthe center piece around the radfio and the stuff between the knobs and radio, the inside/outside air vent, hazzard flasher and rear defroster.
Careful to not jerk the wires out and unplug those. The radio has 4 screws, 1 at each corner then it slides out forwards. You got like 3-4 connectors on the back with very short wires and need to do a reach around to unplug those.
PS, you are removing the side silver pieces and the screws behind those, right?

I'm not quite sure if the 06 is the same as the 05. Does anyone know? My radio has two silver pieces next to it and the hvac has separate silver trim pieces. I've seen pictures of some interiors where the silver pieces are continuous. Thanks for the info, in any case. I'll go out and investigate tomorrow. Keith
its the same as the 05, as the 06 is
The two longer silver pieces below teh radio pry out at the bottom and under those are more screws. Then its a tug of war.

Many thanks, I'll try it today. So the tug of war involves getting the longer silver trim pieces pulled out? OK, will try. Many thanks, Keith
