Default Did TRD finally redesigned the S/C shaft? 56K NO...

*If this is a re-post, please lock and post link, thank you*

So my second S/C took a dump just like the 1st one(this is an 05 tC version), same deal...bad seals/bearings on the shaft, this one only lasted me about 6K miles. So I picked up my car from the dealer(Hamer Toyota where all the work was done under warranty, thank god) this past Saturday and I immediately decide to look under the hood and I quickly noticed that the shaft was different, here's some pics:

The differences I notice are those support brackets at the ends of the shaft, you can also see that the ends of the shaft are a bit thicker, bigger bearings maybe? not sure, but it does sound different, the wine is allot louder and more noticeable with the windows closed, I haven't really hit it hard yet, I'm taking it easy on it for a couple of more miles, but so far so good, it's smoother and no rattles as of yet, not even when I use the A/C, my last 2 did not like it when I had the A/C on lol....anyways, just wanted to share, hope it's not a re-post, thanks.

Think they'll make it a TSB?
Looks like TRD did a good job of rubbing the shaft out before sending it to be installed. At least they were nice enough to clean it up.

That's just the shaft cover. The actual shaft is probably still the same. you can't see the actual shaft unless you disassemble the SC.

If you look at my post from yesterday TRD outsourced the shafts and some 3rd party made the initial shafts. So I'm willing to bet all the 05-06 shafts are affected. Looks like the dealer ship may have given you an 07-08 shaft. Like Etli said thats just the shaft cover and different retaining brackets. It may be a little better, but you won't really know without waiting it out or taking it apart to take a look. Did they give you a new housing on the shaft side?

I think its a completely different/new blower, I'll check the part# from the 2nd one to this one. Its too soon to tell if the changes made are going to be beneficial or not, but trust me I'm going to be putting it to the test that's for sure, I drive my car allot and I frequently take trips to AZ to visit family, so we'll see how the longevity of this one is.

well a least you were lucky enough to get a new one under warranty, when my shaft was bouncing around in there they said it was "normal" lol. Goodluck
