so i bought a Pioneer avh p4000 a few days ago for a extremely good price lol.. i manage to wire up the whole thing and everything works on it except for the video(because i havent hooked up my lime green wire yet). all my wiring seems to be ok, but my question is i am left over with a thicker black wire. it originally had 2 black wires(from pioneer head unit harness), one which was skinnier then the other. i connected the skinnier black wire to the metra harness kit which only had one. But now im left with a thicker black wire? i was wondering if that had to go somewhere or not? Im a noob at stereo things because its my first time installing something like this. I did search but couldnt find a clear answer for mine..

For mine I had wired a toggle switch in so the system thinks the car is in park while in reality it can be in drive (so I can watch when I am driving)

Wire the switch to the green wire that is supposed to be connected to the parking brake wire and then ground the switch (I used the bolt that the radio harness mounts on...)

 

Thanks chris, but what did you do with the other black wire(thicker one)? Because the pioneer harness has 2 of them(1 skinny 1 thicker) I hooked the skinny one to the metra kit.. But just clueless on what to do with the thicker black wire.. Thanks, sorry I'm a noob at this audio stuff lol.

I did my AVIC F-series install a few weeks ago, and the booklet said to "Attach black ground wire to chassis ground." I had the Metra kit too but I didn't use the ground in the harness.

Another thing is I only had one thicker black ground wire.

Did you search for a DIY on google? Maybe Pioneer's website for the owner's manual?
