Real Carbon fiber hood locks from NRG, Installed them today they look good and I didnt have any problem installing them took about 30 min., they do the trick and keep the carbon fiber hood from moveing when im driveing, works better then I thought it would/. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.http://www.scionlife.com/gallery/personal/66394_10.jpg

I've always preferred the low profile ones. Those are the best if you don't want to cut a huge hole in the hood (like you would with the Aerocatch ones)

Why do you need hood pins anyway ? Did the hood not come with a hood latch?

Sometimes the latches kinda suck and the hood wobbles while driving. Extra security, I guess. Technically, CF hoods are for offroad use only unless hood pins are used.

Even with the latch, you run the risk of the hood popping open. Happened to many....

I like it because you can't see them as much like the sparco hood pins and it looks good with your cf hood.

I know alot of hoods depending on quality and brand will vary on whether you need them or not. If its just a metal/fiberglass type hood with a "carbon fiber" wrap, and it is still substantially heavy, then it doesn't necessarily NEED hood pins. Strictly cosmetic.

Yet most quality carbon fiber hood are substantially lighter, like they are intended for, and therefore can run the risk of wobbling or blowing open and COULD and benefit from hood pins. Are they a necessity?...no. But will they help with a quality light-weight hood?...yes.

I'm indifferent on them, but if i had to get some, I like this low-profile look like you have.

I would definitely do a DIY for the SL community if I were you.

I thought the whole point of pins was to have them *instead of* the latching mechanism, so you could get the hood open quickly to service the NAAAAWWWWWWSSSSSSS system

any light weight hood (fiberglass or carbon fiber) NEEDS or REQUIRES hood pins or some type of lock down to prevent the hood from flying into your windshield at speed. or when the hood DOES fly up most likely i will runn you off the road into a minivan with a husband, wife, a 3 month old and a 2 year old, all because you think hood pins are "____"

negligence and ignorance my friend. play it safe.

I did the same to my BBist Carbon DV hood  even if its rare as fu-k. i could never get it to line up flush with the fenders before and now the pins hold it tight and no more goddamn rattle

carbon fiber and fiberglass anything is ____ for our cars, why do it? o cause its hella fast doooo OMG i need to save weight. OMG my cars fast enough to need weight reduction LOL i laugh at CF, its not even functional on our cars! its your car mod as you will u guys give me a good laugh, OMG imma CF everything on my car, CF can sometimes be done right but mostly not. :blah:

if its done right, IE carbon fiber "flair" and not the focus, then i think it can be pulled off. i just have wing and hood, i feel that thats just right. your right our cars don't need it, however i would have to say that my hood is 1/2 that of the stock hood. not that it helps but, its nice.

I would be concerned with the barrel lock on both sides... like what if there's an engine fire? You would have to unlock both sides, while flames possibly are shooting out? kinda scary.
