I was thinking about in the future, picking up an AEM CAI. I was wondering though, how easy/hard is the install to do? I don't have a problem doing brakes, basic maintenance, sway bar/spring install, etc... How does it compare?
My only "concern" are the hoses and such, is the install really straight forward?
Just looking for some general input, appreciate it!

Here are the TRD CAI install instructions, which should give you a really good idea of what's involved:

Is the TRD one the only one that is legal in all fifty states? Excluding California, are the others still illegal? Basically seeing what is legal in ohio! haha

Yes, TRD is the only one,
Here is Link that speaks about the AEM Intake and Installing and removeing old intake.

I have the TRD and just love it but it def is a little over priced. I was lucky cause i got mine as a gift. I would go with the Tenzo-R Intake, Alot cheaper but the same Quality. Just my 2cents

You're only at risk of water if you use your xB as a boat.
The reason I say this is because fear of hydro lock shouldn't be this much. You'd really have to have the intake filter submerged in water for a bit to hydro lock.

I second that!

if hydrolocking is ur fear, you can always get the bypass that goes between the piping

I mean, it really is not a huge fear, it just seems everybody brings it up anytime a CAI is mentioned. I mean, I really don't drive through puddles or anything, so the filter should never, ever be submerged or even exposed directly to water. The only water it may see is road mist on freeways and whatever may "splash" from my own wheels.
As long as that won't be an issue, I won't have any issues. We have the splash shield under the front of the xB and its pretty well "isolated".
