Default Test driving something new this weekend.

I will be taking measurements to see how many subs I can fit in the back. Will probably order one this weekend for a July delivery if possible.

No, I'm NOT getting rid of the xB. The Smart Car will be my daily driver so I can put the xB into the garage and spend more time on it. I'm getting to the point where I want to start doing some very unique stuff with the xB, but need to have a second vehicle to do it.

why a smart car, they are kinda neat, but rediculously expensive for what they are. there are lots of other cars that are better buys for the money. i'd just buy a beater if i needed a daily driver for my project car.

You are right about the cost. But the main reason why I want it is because it's different. I'm sure that's why most of us bought our Gen1 xB's. Because they were (at the time) different than anything else on the road.

I love owning and collecting stuff that is out of the ordinary.

i can respect that. i just hate people who buy them for stupid reasons. like my friends mom bought one to save on gas, and i was like "does she live in a crowded city and freequently commute in stop and go traffic and have limited parking space?" answers were no, no and no...so i was like what was the point of paying so much for that car then? sigh...

Yup. With the '10 Prius arriving people should be able to grab an '09 for less than a smart (if economy is the issue)

And Robert, the question isn't how many subs you can get in there, it's going to be "will the doors stay on when they hit?"

There are a lot of people here that jumped on the smart car bandwagon because of gas prices. Many though didnt do their homework and were complianing now that...they really are not that "smart" lol. 24 month warranty, expensive, and take premium fuel and oh yeah crappy mileage for what they are. Now if your buying one just because you like the oddity of one., ok that's cool.

The wait is 12 months to order the exact color / model I want, uugghh.

I'm looking at a few that they have in stock and might go ahead and buy one of those this week. I'll be talking to my bank tomorrow.

The smart cars are not very unique at all anymore. I see them all the time. We have one here at work. It is cool. But for the price. I dont know. Now that more and more people are coming out with cars like this. I wonder what it will do to the resale value of the "Smartcar".
