Default i need new tires... what are some good options?

I am running a little low on tread, so I'm in the market for some new tires.

I have Yokohama Parada Spec-2s on now... 225/40-18

I am looking for a tire that performs better/excellent on dry AND wet roads. because I'm in Upstate NY. the tires I have now are fairly loud. and I don't care if they have alot of road noise.

Looking for summer tires? Or do they need to be all-season?

I'm in NY too and run separate snows for winter and summer tires in the summer.

i had bridgestone potenza re760 sports on my stockies for some time. imo those tires were excellent, in dry conditions they hugged the road. Treadlife was as you'd expect for an ultra high performance summer tire.
but, i now have kumho ecsta asx's on my 18's, those are performance all season. They have a great all around rating (dry, wet, snow) , as well as pretty decent tread life. I like them but i miss the grip i had with my potenzas.

my neighbor has them on her STI and although she enjoys them the tread wears quickly, and not from smoking them, but because they are soft tires.

hmmm... i just read that... they sound like what i want... but im not sure if i wanna replace them often...

i hate to slow down while im turning... i like the feeling of speed on a turn... but the tread on my tires r running low and arent sticking anymore... i am happy with them... got probably over 20k miles on them and r still good to last this summer, but i'm 100% sure i'll need new ones next year

I hear good things about the Star Specs - especially for the price. They're one of the new popular autocross street tires. I would have gotten them this year if I didn't get a killer deal on some RE-01Rs.

I just got the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric's installed. They are pretty darn awsome. They grip like mad and are quiet. They're most impressive in the wet, I feel like my wet traction now is equal to what my dry traction was before with my Brigstone RE92's. ( some of the worst wet traction / hyproplaning tires ever) They seem like the best allround tire out there by Tirerack Tests.

They don't look very cool though if your into flame tread patterns and parking with your wheels turned so people can see your tread. :-)

I think the best choice if you still want to have fun even if its a bit wet out. (the last 2 weeks in Chicago...)

P.S. I love the summer tire naming...max perforemance, Ultra performance, Mega, Super ultra mega!

I had the Parada Spec II (300 tread wear) when I did the Time Attack at Summit Point, WV. Very aggressive course, but sadly, the tires didn't perform too well.

I'm now on Kumho Ecsta XS (180 tread wear), and can definitely feel an improvement on the street. I've only had them for about a month and I haven't tried them on the track though. I like them so far.
