nst 9.5 lbs./ crank pulley questions
i'm new to the scion world. i have an 07 tc.
recently charged it, but still wanting more power.
friends have told me i could change out 2 pulleys.
1. nst crank pulley
2. nst 9.5 pulley
now i have heard horror stories about the pulley.
a. wears the belt faster
b. melts the charger bearing.
like i said new to this and i was hoping to see if there where any stoires good and bad about the 65 mm pulley.
trd clutch, flywheel, short throw, supercharger. 205-210 whp.
want to greddy emanage plug and play, nst 9.5 pulley, dyno tune, nst crank pulley, lsd
any one have a similar set up. looking for number (whp).
if there is thread similar sorry.
thanks for pointing me in the right direction

1. NST Crank Pulley
You will hear different sides as to crank pulleys on cars, mainly "You can cause damage to your engine because it removes the harmonic balancer" and "I've been running for xxx amount of miles with no problems"
You will also hear "I've noticed an increase" and "crank pulleys don't give you more power"
I have the Agency Power crank pulley and have no regrets. I have over 80k miles on the ODO, at least 65k with the crank pulley, no problems.
2. NST 9.5 pulley
I have one laying around since I upgraded to the 12psi NST pulley a few weeks ago. It's a noticeable gain, and engine management isn't necessary with 9.5psi, since the TRD map is quite safe with the pulley. You will be able to get more power with engine management though.
On Ptuning's Dyno Dynamics, when I was pretty much stock s/c (had Magnaflow cat-back and Bosch 110 bpv), I only got ~160whp. After going to 9.5psi, crank pulley, Fidanza flywheel, K&N drop-in filter, Megan header, and Ptuning exhaust, I was able to get 217whp on their dyno.
I'm now at 12psi, water/methanol injection, 550 injectors, changed back to stock header, and tuned with e-Manage Ultimate. I'm at 237whp on Ptuning's dyno. I could definitely squeeze more power out of the engine, but it's my daily driver. I plan on going back for a tune on the second map, so I can have a track setting and a DD setting.
Note: Ptuning's dyno is a DynoDynamics, and reads lower than other types of dynos (namely Dynojet). They do not use correction factors to inflate the numbers. Also, each dyno is different, so it would be difficult to compare one person's numbers to someone else's, especially if they're not using the same dyno at the same location with same conditions.
Best use for dynos, besides tuning, are to compare the increase in power someone gains from different mods when they use the same dyno.
