View Full Version : Got pulled over by CHP on the 210 going east bound
H22acrd 05-07-2009, 05:03 PM Hey just wanted to FYI you guys that I got pulled over this morning... Well reason was I was speeding but he let me go on that..woo..... but he cited for obstruction of view since I have too many stickers on my front windshield. Becareful because they are cracking down on it. SInce I have curtains, they said you cannot have curtains unless it's detachable and if the curtains hide behind the column where your seatbelt thingee is, it's ok. Also huge broadway mirrors are not legal too. I was surprised on the broadway mirror since I have a 300MM mirror. SO becarfeul guys...........FYI
equinox2355 05-07-2009, 05:08 PM I wonder why the broadway mirror is not legal, especially when it provides a better area of view? weird.
shortbusxb 05-07-2009, 05:11 PM Good to know! Yeah, a while back I got pulled over for tinted tails. But I also had my club sticker going up the side of the windshield and the cop said I have to get rid of it. Oh well.
SEXB909 05-07-2009, 05:28 PM did you tell the cop that you are the last surviving Samurai from Japan and you could kill him in less than 5 sec? LOL.
Yeah man did he only give you 1 obstruction of view or did he get you for each one in the windshield? As for Broadways, wow I didn't know those mirrors are illegal too? Curtains I can understand.
H22acrd 05-07-2009, 05:48 PM just one kirby......so I gotta take all those stickers off......
dasiknes803 05-07-2009, 06:12 PM NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
shupes31 05-07-2009, 06:14 PM I guess it's just illegal because it takes up more of your field of vision . Thats' stupid though.
09tC_CB7 05-07-2009, 06:24 PM So many laws so little fun.
EDDIEA123 05-07-2009, 07:18 PM So many laws so little fun.
^2 :tap:
XIEmperorIX 05-07-2009, 07:20 PM I also heard the broadway mirror messed with your depth perception. That might have something to do it with it?
CrayonBx 05-07-2009, 07:22 PM i got pulled over for my front sticker too
and they told me to remove it....does anyone know how to get it signed off?
its_ikon 05-07-2009, 07:36 PM i can't believe the information on the rear view mirror. it provides a better view, so i think that could be won in court. glad i don't live in so cal anymore.
H22acrd 05-07-2009, 07:40 PM yah they told me. but sticker wise if you want to get it signed off, just go to the local chp place and have it signed off.
GOZ01 05-07-2009, 07:44 PM Damn that sucks man,
I was just pulled over 2 weeks ago for front tinted windows (LAPD) and was given a warning about my smoked taillights, the cop was cool but too cool cuz I still ended up with the tix. Does anyone know what the cost of the fix-it-tix are?
About the broadway mirror i've never heard of that either, maybe he was just being an A about it.
H22acrd 05-07-2009, 07:46 PM I think the fix it ticket is you pay $25 in court or something....forgot
Mos_Def 05-07-2009, 07:51 PM fix it tickets are 10 bucks. make sure you go to the chp because they dont charge to write off your ticket. you will pay the 10 bucks when you show it to the court.
H22acrd 05-07-2009, 07:58 PM I actually asked him how much is it. I asked him wasn't it $10 and he said no it went up to $25.
nyte_ryder 05-07-2009, 08:12 PM Yeah they bumped it up to $25 from $10. I got pulled over recently for slightly tinted taillights and they wanted to give me a ticker for my wheels poking out past my fenders
GQQSE13 05-07-2009, 08:34 PM they seriously get you for front stickers? i figurred it was like the tint law you could ahve the top 6" or bottom 6"
nyte_ryder 05-07-2009, 09:11 PM Decals on the front windshield are destruction of view.
H22acrd 05-07-2009, 09:37 PM now I gotta take it off....oh well.
MikeRackhabit 05-07-2009, 09:49 PM That sucks, as far as the Broadway mirrors that is odd, but it could be like someone else said, because it takes up slightly more room in your vision and possibly because most are convex (or concave?) and are different than your standard mirror.
It messes with your depth perception and can make things seem farther than they are, more-so than a normal mirror I believe.
kiss_kiss_kill 05-07-2009, 09:52 PM Decals on the front windshield are destruction of view.
obstruction* :lalala:
That sucks, Ken. I'm screwed when I start driving the tC around now, lol.
jamesfg49 05-07-2009, 10:20 PM You guys got too many dumb arsed laws out there. Out here, I roll with a fully tinted windshield and only been hassled by DPS one time in 2 years and that was for my side window tint. Go figure.
H22acrd 05-07-2009, 10:38 PM might be nice james....
JOEinSD 05-08-2009, 05:42 AM fix it tickets are 10 bucks. make sure you go to the chp because they dont charge to write off your ticket. you will pay the 10 bucks when you show it to the court.Umm.. No one should charge to sign off a ticket as far as I know.. Just find any peace officer (CHP, local PD, or Sheriffs) and ask them to look it over. If everything looks fine, then they'll sign it off.
And I'll play devil's advocate about the Broadway mirror - Sure, it help's your view of the REAR, but it destructs your FRONTAL view.. Plus, if you know how to set your sideview mirrors right, you shouldn't have blind spots in the rear anyway. Mine are set perfectly, and I have no blind spots. I rarely look over when I switch lanes anymore. :lalala:
P.S. - It helps to have friends of friends who are police officers. My front tint never came off when I got my ticket for it.
JOEinSD 05-08-2009, 05:43 AM might be nice james.... :eyebrow: ????
You mean "MUST be nice"?

teabox 05-08-2009, 08:57 PM obstruct, not destruct.
