Default side view mirror housing prematurely fading

Not sure if this is the right section. I know there were alot of paint issues with the early tc's, but this doesn't seem typical. The paint on my side view mirrors has become white and cracked (originally bcp). The rest of the paint is clean and normal. anyone else experience this?

well mine isnt cracking, it does have its fair share of chips and nicks like my hood, bumper and windshield. i took my tC in about 1.5yrs ago because the drivers side mirror stopped working, i wasnt able to control it from the inside. come to find out i cut a wire when i installed my speakers when pulling wires through the boot. anywho they replaced the whole assebly aswell as the outside piece. here's how mine look...

passanger side

drivers side

the clear coat is noticeable as well as the rock chips on the passanger side, not so much on the drivers side for it being 1.5yrs old and my passanger since i got the tC in June 2005. now i take very good care of my car, washing it at least 3-4 times a month with a clay bar and wax at least every oil change. i guess i never waxed the mirror covers? but i guess its another "you bought a $17k car"?

Same here, but looking back on it when I waxed my car & clayed it, I don't ever remember doing the mirror covers, lol.

I guess I just forgot them? Sucks though. Thinking about getting Kennon to repaint them for me. :D

never thought about that, sounds pretty good! maybe he can come down to south texas to do the whole front portion of my car since its pitted everywhere. i cant count how many hood chips i have, and my bumper is starting to look like my passanger side mirror cover like the pic above.

The clear coat on my driver's side mirror cover started flaking off a few months ago (it's '05). Zero problems with the passenger mirror aside from rock chips. I just went ahead and repainted them both.

Yea my bumper already looks like that sadly. Too big for me to send it off to him though. I'd have a custom colored tc if I lived by him, trust me lol

i've really slacked off on waxing over the past year. I'm gonna try to see if i can clean it up with some paint rejuvinator. otherwise i may just pull them off and respray them. any idea if the lens covers on the side views can be replaced?
