So i just bumped Sam from TSE and it looked like the hood wasnt damaged which was a big shock for me ( i was sure that my hood is GONE)

but when i opened the hood to see how is my bumper and headlight holding up.... i realized that the fiberglass part is cracked from side to side ((
well at least its nothing what u can see from the outside.

Sorry, but i have NO pics about the hood yet!

the hood taped down becase the vertical support was bended so the hood sits croocked.

but i hope some of u could help me out how could i fix this....

i was thinking about epoxy but maybe i should pot a layer or two fiberglass or what?

i will try to make some photos.. soon i will take the car to the shop anyway.
it might be covered on my insurance. not sure. i got AIG insurance

Can't fix cf as far as I know.

 

the cf is not damaged.. the bottom of the hood if fiberglass.. as far as i know.... so... anyone?

 

you would need some fabrication to rebuild whatever you broke under the hood, which with fiberglass is really hard due to the tendency to crack.

from what I saw you definitely need a new bumper, might aswell start looking for a new hood, you also wanna check for cracks in your headlights

 

i say fiber glass the crack underneath, and get hood pins (preferably latches) installed for safety, the hoods strength has been compromised and a fiberglass patch will only do so much

if you get pins or latches, let me know and i will install them for you, no charge, i did my own!

good luck, maybe your insurance will cover the damage for the hood!

i was thinking about putting fiberglass on the crack.. but im not really sure how do i do it. i put epoxy on it and lay the fiberglass on the epoxi and that how it will harden.. or what?

^you have to use fiber glass matt for the fiberglass resin/hardener mix to adhere, its pretty runny

i suggest taking the hood off and laying it upside down to lay the fiberglass, it would be impossible to lay fiberglass from underneath.

autozone or any autostore next to the paint and stuff sell Fiberglass resin with a tube of hardener, basically its a mix of the two and becomes rock hard within minutes

but like i said, the hoods strength has been compromised, id be very careful on the highway

 

Take you r hood off and put stock back on...........get grinder and grind the crack in a clean V shape to clean it up.........put a small drill hole in each end of the crack so it does not go farther,get some clean surface by sanding under side of hood..........lay up some resin and fiberglass and lay it up,you may need to do the entire under side of hood to make it look perfect again.........you are in for a long long amount of work........and do not use things like epoxy to fix fiberglass........that is liek using fiberglass to fix polyurathane.......looks good for about 2 days then breaks........

 

I say sell it and get a new one...that seems like your best chance

 

I'd do the glassing on the inside first, to relieve stress where the crack is, then once that's all nice and cured, work on the outside as BZinn1 recommended... Ester resins take some time to fully cure, after it's cured to the touch, I'd set it outside in the sun for a few days to accelerate the cure...

Also on the exterior of your pieces, you want your final coat of resin to either be waxed or have a waxing agent added to assist in sanding....
