Default Sunroof Operation Questions

Hello. I wanted to ask a couple of questions about how the tC's sunroof *should* operate. From the closed position, I have to hold the open button to open the sunroof (it's not a one touch automatic opener like the windows) and while holding down the button the sunroof will stop about an inch from the end of the track. I then release and press the button again and it opens the rest of the way. To close the sunroof, I have to hold the button down (again, not automatic), and the sunroof stops with 1/3 of the track remaining. I then release and press and hold the button again and it closes the rest of the way.

I guess my questions are: is the sunroof supposed to be one touch automatic opening and closing? Also, is the sunroof supposed to stop with the inch left of track while opening? If so, why?

TIA

um yes it is one touch auto. it has 3 different "options" on the way back push once 1) cracked open push again 2) slides back push again 3) it goes back just a tad more. hold down to put it back 1) it will stop half way for another "style" hold down again and then it will go back down.

so yes its supposed to do that.
idk why cause scion thought it would be cool? ask the makers of the car lol its just another little option

the sunroof auto stops when opening like that because that is the optimal opening without having too much wind noise...at least it says that in the manual

have you disconnected your battery? either way to fix it all you have to do is hold the button on close until you hear a click while the sunroof is closed of coarse and wa la it should work properly

From what you said, your sunroof is opening perfectly normal. You should also read your Owner's Manual. It is auto open with multiple "steps" in the opening... but NOT auto closing - at all.

How it is supposed to work:

Opening:

Hold the button for a second and release: cracks open a little. Press again for one second and it opens to the 3/4's position.
Hold button for two seconds (when totally closed): opens to the "second" position which is about 3/4 way open.
Press again when at 3/4's position and it opens just a little further.

Closing: Hold and it stops just before the wind deflector. Release and press/hold again and it will close the rest of the way.

That's it.

Notes: When opening... if you don't hold it for the one or two seconds, it won't do ANYTHING auto. So if you want it to auto open to the 3/4's position, you should really hold it for nearly 3 seconds... just to be sure.
