Hey , just installed my 8000k HID kit i picked up from ebay. And allow me to say that it is simply amazing. The silverstars looks pale and yellow compared to these lights of course but also the driving quality and the second look i get is very pleasing. Its cold as a bastard so im gonna get some pics up soon if it get a bit over freezing here. Also the cut off line is perfect for these headlights and there is no blinding effect when driving because i got into my friends car and he followed me to see. I am very happy and hopefully youll be to when ya get em. :-)
thats the kit, the guy that sold it to me was fast and responsive, now i look foward to driving at night... and if you guys ever get something similar ill help ya with the install but trust me this is one of the easiest bolt ons i have ever done.... left headlight has plenty of mounting points for the ballast but the right has the battery, fuse box, and air box.....i finangled it in there somehow but the result is amazing.. i could never go back.. pictures are comming tommorow night.. promise :-)

NICE!!>...
how much was the kit?..
i think blue/minty headlights are illegal.
along with my white/blue turn signals in NJ
230 fine for turn signals and i think about the same for the headlights..
correct me if im wrong..
does it really look that blue from far away.. like the xenon's?
or is it just the camera compensating...
but anywhoo... they look great!

they are a hair whiter, but they are legal 6000k and 8000k are legal which those are... but when u get to 10k(all blue) and 12k(all purple) then your illegal buddy.... the kit cost 3 bills and i put up a link to the guy on ebay above... he doesnt have 100% feedback for nothing.. fast and friendly service.. and thanks for the compliment

He said the kit is 8000K. Most OEM HID is closer to 4. The higher you go, the more colored light gets (less lumens, less usable light).

Nice HID's. I bought the same 8000k HID kit on ebay a couple weeks ago. I think it was from a different seller tho. $275 after shipping. I even have the same exact car and color as you. I used zip ties for the right ballast cuz I'm not sure where I want to put it yet. Like you said, not much room on that side... and its a biatch getting to the city lights on the right side too. Now that I have them, I wish I wouldve gone with the 6000k. The 8000k is a little too blue for me. But thats just my opion. Overall I still really like em. Nice pics[/quote]

I have the Philips balasts and Philips 6000k bulbs in my tC and they're more of a bluish white than a bluish purple. They are BRIOOGHT as hell and do not have high beam but you don't need it with these. They fit good and look clean on the road.

the kit is up to you .. if you wanna go for a name brand get a phillips kit like above but get ready to pay for it, you can get a decent kit from ebay like i did, most kits should already come with the bulb of choice.. just do a 6000k or 8000k 9006 bulb search on ebay

Shrugs....all of those are illegal regardless of color temp. It is illegal to install any HID bulb in a housing designed for halogen use. It's also illegal to install a 9007 bulb in a light designed for a 9004 (just an example). Not to mention the glare will blind other drivers. If you want HIDs wait until someone designs a complete retrofit including the housings. Although, that would still be illegal if I'm not mistaken, you just wouldn't blind oncoming traffic. In short, it's illegal to install HID lighting in any vehicle that didn't come from the factory with them as an option. Just an FYI.

Umm.. actually the 6k are brighter/whiter/ and elimante the road better than the 8k.
THE HIGHER THE "K" YOU GO.. YOU DIMMER IT WILL ELUMINATE ON THE ROAD
As soon as I get the actual black and white proof!! I will post it.. Im just letting you know for now.
And for the ppl who wanna do an hid kit.. Just search on ebay.. ex: 9006 hid conversion kit..... It will bring up all different brand names and "k" There are some places that will show you the difference in color between the bulbs.. Most places carry any bulb and any "k" you want!..

Many people are not comfortable driving with stock halogen bulbs that dont project enough light onto the road. HID's produce 3x more light than stock bulbs and make driving at night a breeze. 5300k (bright white) will provide you with the most light on the road.
* Then there are car enthusiasts that are looking for anything that will make their cars stand out from the rest. Our 8000k (intense blue) and 10000k (purplish blue) kits do exactly that.
But we also have a kit for everyone else. 6000k (bluish white) does a little of both. While still remaining very bright, it gives any car a nice look without being too flashy.

The only right way is do a damn Xenon projector lens from a car that has HID and do a retro fit. Your aftermarket kit from ebay might look cool, let it look cool all you want but when that on coming traffic cant see the road correctly because your lights are aimed wrong and you cause an accident dont come whinning on this board saying your car is wrecked or something.

The best HID kit I found is from PlasmaGarage.Com It's very good quality kit and I suggest the 6000K because it puts out the highest lumen from a colored (purplish-white) HID kit. The higher the Kelvin, the more it gets dim on the lunmen (plus it looks like you have those fake blue bulbs because it's now so blue!)

scionman05

And my .02 about projector retrofits. and the difference in projector vs. standard headlights in general.
I am not stating facts here. this is all my OPINION !!
Bright is bright wether its beeing projector throught a focused beam or not. If you look at our headlight allumination on the road. Some of you may see if similar to a projector houseing. There is a "fake cutoff line" look. While at the same time there is the glare of 2 individual bulbs. I do see a resemblance in our headlights to a projector headlight.
Sure a projector light may be better cuz it does focuse the beam on the road but I am very picky bout my lighting on the road. I am all for HID kit also. But if you look at most cars or drive in most cars you will see that most headlights dont have the resemblance of a projector lense as to ours do. Most standard headlights fade as they go down the road and to the side. but ours simply have a sut off line to them. Not as sharp as projector but I see it is there. You can really notice this if you drive down a dark road wit trees on the side. as you hit bumps and the road goes up and down you will see our lights "jump" and you will notice this line. as to most cars do not do that cuz the light output just fades cause of the design of the headlight.
Since our headlights sit far back in the houseing and the houseing has that clear strip across the top ( which would be perfect for a strip of amber leds for turn signals) It makes the light have a cut out line. As most headlights arent just simply designed like that they will not have that cutoff line.
Any opinions or feedback on this would be great. And like I said this is just my opinion and my opinion only. I am not stating my information is factual or not.
