Default Hatchback Won't Unlock??

So, I have a 2005 tC and for the past few months I just cannot get my hatchback open. It started happening every so often, I would unlock the car but the hatchback wouldn't unlock as well. But now it's a constant thing. I'll hit lock/unlock on my keys, on the doors themselves.. nothing. It doesn't sound like the hatchback unlocks.

Is there anything I can check or try myself, or do I have to bring it in for the dealer to look at? I didn't know if there was another way to unlock the hatchback (if there is I haven't known about it in the five years I've had the car), or if there are fuses I could try replacing. I checked in the book and there are 3 or 4 fuses related to the door locks, but they also have other car systems listed with them that are working fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Could the wires have come disconnected? It sounds like the problem. If it would work sometimes and not others, now not at all and you don't hear any noise. To me is sounds like the wire to the lock was loose and now it's completely disconnected.

don't you have to hit the unlock button twice on your remote.

sorry if this is a dumb answer.

Sorry, it took me a long time to get around to playing with it. I changed all the fuses that mentioned 'power door system' or 'rear door' and none of that helped.

I crawled into my hatchback area and took off the cover where the latch is to see if there is a way to pop the hatchback from the inside, doesn't seem like there is.

I even sat inside and kept hitting lock and unlock on my remote (with the doors closed since you can't lock if the doors are open) and you hear absolutely nothing going on in my hatchback. No attempts at locking or unlocking.

And yes, I definitely hit unlock more than once haha.

So I'm not sure what else to look at Do I need to bring it into the dealer?

As for that, do you know where the wire runs? I believe I see where it ends in the hatchback where the latch is, but I don't know where it runs through the rest of the car. If it happens to run behind the stereo area at all I can see myself possibly making it loose since I was playing with putting in an audio adapter for my iPod at one point

Edit: I found https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=138455 which has electrical wiring guides, I'll see if I can figure anything out from that

check under the rear floor,I cannot rembmer if the actuator is in the hatch or the car body, might be in the hatch and you should be able to stick a screw driver in the slot and turn and open the latch if it is unlocked, this slot is on the actuator latch mechanism, cuase I got mine stuck with my battery disconnected and was able to turn it,I am sure they did not achange from 05-08........

I need to try this I guess. The only problem is that I have the subwoofer and everything so trying to get into the spare tire compartment (I think that's what you mean?) from the inside without being able to open the hatchback will be loads of fun

yeah if you have all that in there it is gonna be nearly impossibel to get it in there, you will just end up breaking something, take to dealership and le them break it,then they have to pay for it,not you.
