I have stage 2 cams and i think the timing might be off but im not sure. Has anyone had problems with rough idle and shutting off while starting their cars cold? My car idles rough and shuts off until the temperature is about 1/4 of the way hot. Any ideas what it could be?

 

what are you using to tune? may need to invest in a honda IAC valve and use with an AEM EMS if you got one (the dezod kit comes with one). or adjust the idle in the ecu. may need to check your vvt-i settings? just possible ideas.

 

idle will be rough on aftermarket cams but it should be tuned not to die.. you should have a standalone though to tune it which i assume you have, as for vvti settings, im interested on how to play with it too!

stock comp should be able to HANDLE tehm but not use them to max potential

NA cams = better for FI.

i was doing the math a while back. durations are more forgiving than the FI cams

 

really, you were talking about just bolt on and not tuning the cams?

 

well, it should run in theory, it's cams teh ecu should be able to handle them

 

oh yeah its run should run lol.. what i meant is that NA cams works better on FI when you dont have a way of tuning cams through ems?

 

Thanks for the link... However i dont understand this part "the three pins on the end of the cam were set too far from the mag pickup sensor". What are those 3 pins and what is a mag pickup sensor? Im running a AEM FIC piggyback so the vehicle has been tuned.

 

The pins and mag sensor work like the Crank angle sensor....it tells the ecu where cam is in its rotation.


So if its not reading correct....then you will run bad or not at all.

 

Before I got the cam signal fixed I had the same problem. Had to hold it at high idle manually till it warmed up.

 

Any chance you can go into alittle more detail on the fix for this?


I have the BC NA cams but havent gotten them on the car yet. I'd like to make sure I'm good before I do so.

 

why wudnt u run the stage 2 turbo cams if ur boosted? i mean.. they are made specifically for that reason arent tehy?

 

I didnt want to replace everything in the head.

Just throw in these....change out the buckets and go.

 

Measure the clearance between the dowels and the sensor before removal. Make sure the three dowels on the BC cams are set to the same protusion as the ones in the stock cam after you pull the stockcam out and before you install the BC cam. Then set the new cam in the head and double check the clearance before final assembly.

 

You said you used a hammer? How much force is needed to get them to meet spec?
