Default Question For Anyone Who Has the TRD Exhaust Option

What does the TRD Cold Intake and Emissions package do to the sound of the XB? We are considering adding these options for performance, but do not want anything that sounds like a ghetto blaster from "Pimp My Ride" Thanks!

the intake sounds good and emissions package? what is this you speak of? dont bother with the exhaust you will get zero gains from either so if your looking for power they will not help if you just want the sound then hey its your money

Actually the TRD CAI gains ~8-10whp and the TRD axle-back gains ~2whp and has a nice throaty exhaust note. The biggest complaint I've seen is that the TRD AB isn't loud enough for the ricers. I do agree that 2whp is pretty weak for $375. If I had it to do over, I'd get the 2.5" ebay exhaust and have a hi-flow cat welded in. I'd get the CXR exhaust if they offered it in 2.5" instead of 3".

According to dyno tests by Import Tuner and in the TC section, a CAI gains 8-10whp on the 2AZ-FE. That might not be enough for you but not everyone wants a turbo or NOS. IMO a CAI is the best bang for the buck performance mod that can be made to this engine. I wouldn't spend $300 for one though when the $150 Tenzo-R will make roughly the same power as TRD, Injen, W-R, AEM, etc.

I am actually more concerned with the SOUND. I do not want the Toyota TRD add-ons to sound like Ricer at all. A little more throaty I can handle, but anything too loud and I don't want anything to do with it.

It won't be loud and it won't be raspy, but it'll be louder than stock.

You can't really hear the CAI until you floor it, especially at higher RPM.

To answer your question the TRD exhaust on the xB 2 is very quiet, we have it on ours and it is a very tiny bit louder than a stock exhaust.

I also have an xB1 and the trd exhaust makes a much louder difference on it than the stock one there... the xB 2 with the TRD is much quieter than my xB1 with the TRD I find it hardly noticable.

That's an easy fix, upgrade the header and the exhaust will be much louder. A local here has a black xb2 with an upgraded header and the trd exhaust and its much louder compared to a stock with trd exhaust.
