Does anyone know of a good bike rack to mount on our trunk? I was looking on yakima's website but they all looked like they needed to attached to the top of the trunk which is where our glass is mounted. Help is appreciated.

I don't think you'll be able to use one like that (I used to have one on a different car). They need a place to clip into on the trunk. But as you noticed, our hatch doesn't have the same slot that a trunk would have.

i have the yakima super joe three and it works great...bike doesnt move at all...but you can only have two bikes max. its great to get the three for the extra room for just the two.

Has anyone tried fitting the bike "in" the car? I'm wondering if it will fit. I guess if I take the wheels off it will, but I just haven't tried it yet.
But if you want 2 bikes and 2 people and gear, it may get a little cramped back there.

Also, the straps reach that far up to the top of the hatch or do you need to add straps?

My bike fits in my car with a sub box in it. I just hate having to rearrange everything to get it in there

I went with a tow hitch and a hitch mounted rack. So much better than having to rearrange stuff in the car and bother with removing wheels.

I got a Dahon Espresso folding bike so I wouldn't have to worry about a bike rack. The bike isn't designed for trail riding though.

a road bike fits just fine in my trunk space w/ rear seats down. and doesnt the manual specifically mention not to use/install a rear tow hook for bike racks?
