Default Cold Air, Exhaust, and Header

So, I was wondering how much horsepower gain I could w/a cold air induction system, an exhaust system, and a new header. If you were doing this to your xA, what type of those would you get? Also, I know that putting a cold air induction system would decrease the life of the car, but how much, and does a short ram intake do that also? Any answers???

How would an intake decrease the life of the car? It's just a more free-flowing air box replacement. Maybe because you will have the tendency to step on the gas more... *shrug*

I have an Injen cold air intake, a DC Sports header, and custom resonator-back (2") HKS exhaust. I feel a big difference from stock. I haven't dyno'd it...but there's an appreciated difference.

I heard that cold air induction systems greatly decreased your cars life BeCaUsE of the fact that your forcing air into the engine. But I'm no car guy so, that's why I'm asking

I think you're talking about Nitrous Oxide or another forced induction method (super charger/turbo charger)... With an air box and aftermarket intakes, the engine does the sucking. The intake just makes it easier for the engine to suck the air...

the header and exhaust help out a lot. The header mainly helps out more than anything though. You would probably get about 5-6+HP <<<Guessing. Depends on the intake and the exhaust. The headers are all about the same.

I would go w/ the Injen short ram, DC Sports header, and an axleback muffler of some sort. BUT, if you have access to a muffler shop, I would go w/ 2.25 inch piping from the resonator back. The muffler all depends on what sound you desire.

You can go with all three and feel a diference. Go with the DC sports header, the KandN intake and a precisionmuffler.com axle back. Also squirrel has a intake for sale if you need one. Cost effective and simple.

Why spend a ton o money on the DC header? The Megan header looks good (nice welds, good looking collector, and stainless steel) for way cheaper. Look for it on eBay.

Cuz megan is crap...even the megan sponsored cars don't run the headers...THINK ABOUT THAT...they just use the strut bars.

BURN

Why don't you save 1200 more and get a custom turbo kit

Of course Megan is fine. Just because they aren't well known doesn't mean they're crap. Actually. I prefer the stainless construction of the Megan to the DC's ceramic coating that will eventually fall off and rust through.

As far as race cars go, usually everything in a race car is customized one-off. Does the AEM drag Civic use stock off-the-shelf DC headers? No. Well why not? AEM owns DC Sports. Think about that...
