bigpoppagian 06-03-2009, 10:29 PM Looks pretty nice. Hoping they come in Diff colors. Are the ones your selling sliders or flip out like the illustration?
galyion 06-03-2009, 11:59 PM It is the key in the original post. the diy is for informational purposes so people know what they need to do to get the key to work
NickstC 06-04-2009, 02:37 AM Watching......
Keith 06-04-2009, 03:10 AM ^^^ me too
silverclown 06-04-2009, 02:16 PM was watchin this same flip key on the bay and it was roughly the same price, looks cool but how sturdy will the key be? would not want the key to break off, due to some cheap asian sweat shop plastic.
Eppopipe 06-04-2009, 03:03 PM im down for one as long as my buttons will still all work.
Martillo_Azul 06-04-2009, 04:16 PM Good in theory but like Clown boy said how sturdy are they? I would want one. Also it says retractable but is that slider or flip out?
biggie624 06-04-2009, 06:01 PM count me in for one of those after you answer mr. clown and martillo's question...
potseng 06-04-2009, 06:48 PM Looks good. I'm in. Just wondering how's the quality of the FOB. cant trust everything from china...... did you get your hand on one of this?
galyion 06-04-2009, 09:18 PM was watchin this same flip key on the bay and it was roughly the same price, looks cool but how sturdy will the key be? would not want the key to break off, due to some cheap asian sweat shop plastic.
I have the link to the ebay sale up top. i will be selling them for about the same price but shipping will be free and about 3 weeks faster
Good in theory but like Clown boy said how sturdy are they? I would want one. Also it says retractable but is that slider or flip out?
I have not handled one of these keys personal yet. i questioned the manufacturer about the quality and they told me that they have never had one returned because it broke ( i know they always say that) so that's all i have to go on for now. you guys can have my word that when i get these in i will test there durability. and if the not up to par they will be going back. I will not sell junk. and the key is a slider.
Martillo_Azul 06-05-2009, 04:24 AM Kool. does it automatically slide back back in.
Aurora 06-05-2009, 05:31 AM Ooo., good question. I don't think it will automatically slide back in, but I don't think they do. That would require a spring load or some kind of motor.
I too am interested in this.
DXNOICS 06-05-2009, 09:04 PM These are spring loaded to retract. I am still a little baffled on how to get the remote to fit correctly. The remote will not fit unless you take only the electronics and not the piece that sourrounds the battery, And yes, I have taken the remote part out of the key. If anyone has found an install link please post it.
Aurora 06-06-2009, 03:31 AM BUMP, keep us posted galyion
scioncrzy06 06-06-2009, 06:11 AM Would love one of thoes keys...... Let me know when u have them and the price for sure please. I would start with one but may buy as many as 4 total maybe more depending on my club and who wants one..... Thanks......
TheCCBox 06-06-2009, 08:33 PM Does the buttons still work like unlock and lock???!!!!

Aurora 06-08-2009, 03:55 AM Looks pretty sick to me. I think it will all come down to the price I suppose, especially since you have to go to a locksmith. Still, sweet!
potseng 06-08-2009, 09:00 PM When can you have those keys? I cant wait to have the new key.
galyion 06-10-2009, 01:39 AM I ordered the keys today. the price is gonna be 30$ and ill cover the shipping to the contiguous 48 states. they should be in early next week. ill be able to start shipping them then I'm gonna do mine first so i can include pics and check durability and functionality. i can accept is paypal or you can mail a money order no personal checks.

galyion 06-15-2009, 11:17 PM What you will get
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0448.jpg
whats inside
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0451.jpg
go get your key blank cut
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0483.jpg
next step is to take apart your key. to get to the little box inside
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0469.jpg
after this there is no going back. using a small screwdriver or pick/all. split the clear part from the black part.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0470.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0471.jpg
now you pitch the plastic case. all you need is the board and battery.
Now take apart the new key.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0455.jpg
and put the board and battery in the carrier.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0473.jpg
make sure everything is lined up and snap it in.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0477.jpg
time to re assemble
put in the cut key secure it with one of the little screws that came with your key
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0462.jpg
put your transponder chip in. I have no pics of removing it because i removed mine a week or so ago. all i did was heat it with a hair dryer on high for a minute or so and work at it with a eye glass screwdriver. first scraping the glue from the top of the chip then trying to loosen the glue on the two long sides before prying it out. (the heat is mainly to soften the plastic) i found that it comes out the easiest if you work your little screwdriver down into the short side closest to the metal key part. and gently work it out from there. pushing it down as far as possible beside the chip and gently prying up a little and doing that over and over till the chip pops out.DO NOT BE ROUGH WITH THIS IF YOU TAKE A CHUNK OUT OF THE CHIP YOU CAN RUIN IT.
i would recommend lying the dryer down on an edge of a table or something and leaving it on because you will need to keep the key hot while doing this. i don't mean doing it in front of the dryer but putting it back in front every 10 seconds or so to keep it hot.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0479.jpg
put the carrier and the front trim piece back on
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0480.jpg
Snap the cover back on
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/100_0482.jpg
These are the instructions the manufacturer provided
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/GiES273_UserManual_1.jpg
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h16/galyion/GiES273_UserManual_2.jpg
Now go try it out
The quality of the key is pretty good there sturdy. but the slide has a little bit of slack in it. long term durability i cannot comment on until i use it for a while
bigpoppagian 06-15-2009, 11:47 PM ill send you payment, by tomorrow. BTW did you get the key cut a a locksmith or home depot?
mrlakers08 06-16-2009, 12:12 AM Very interested!! let me know what type of payment do u take
galyion 06-16-2009, 01:55 AM i got mine cut at a local mom and pop hardware store. if you go to too big of a place they may not cut it. there not supposed to cut keys with chips in them. most smaller places will.
Martillo_Azul 06-16-2009, 05:33 PM money sent
tCizzler 06-16-2009, 09:01 PM I just got mine today. It is awesome!!! Very easy to adapt old key to this one. Whole process took less than 5 minutes and 90% of it was done in a Home Depot parking lot.
Very sturdy feeling key. Much better than my old key (in the condition it was in)
Side note: I wouldn't tear apart a good key for this, but if you have a key that is showing wear, this is a GREAT replacement! 2 thumbs up!
Also, take the blank to someone you can trust. Home Depot did a shltty job and my key only works one way. But atleast it works and i don't need a spare blank :)
Aurora 06-16-2009, 11:28 PM Pictures!!
Yeah, I have a key I dropped in paint so that wouldn't be a problem.
tCizzler 06-16-2009, 11:49 PM One better.... a video!

Mine is still working great. no problems to report. i have had some concerns from people that bought one that the transponder chips was a pain to get out but no problems w/ the key itself. i just recommend looking over the diy on the second page (also in the tc-ice/interior forum) before you buy so you know what you have to do.
bigpoppagian 06-30-2009, 04:17 AM Got mine last week, loved how it looks and people dig the uniqueness of it. At first was a lil worried about the material but actually its pretty sturdy, also i like how easy you can take it apart, definitly a plus for anyone who wanted to make it a diff color.
galyion 07-06-2009, 02:04 AM got an email from the people i get the keys from and there sending a bunch of the new style PCB holders. they said it will make the conversion easier. so they will go out with the last few keys i got.
carbon_ninja 07-09-2009, 02:24 PM any left
rjjone2 07-10-2009, 12:46 AM Okay I got my key in the mail today and I got the blank cut. I have taken apart my stock key and pulled the electronics out. I am trying to put the battery in the recessed area on the black plastic piece but I have a contact on the bottom of the circuit board for the battery that won't let me fully seat the electronic board against the plastic. This contact is "C" shaped and wraps around the edge of the battery. It stands off the bottom of the board about 1/4". The board needs this contact to touch the battery to make it work but it seems there is not enough room for it and the battery down in the recessed area. In galyions picture it looks like he does not have this same "C" shaped contact. Ideas?
Also, is it possible not to have the transponder chip? I took the stock key apart and I see a slot where I think the transponder goes but its not in there. I have a 2nd gen xb.
your car would not start without that transponder
.....do you still have this? i cracked my alarm dongle and im going to try and fit it in this...
rjjone2 07-17-2009, 11:51 AM Okay this is just FYI but my key for my xB did not have a transponder in it and apparently there are 2 different pcb boards (the black plastic piece in the gies key that holds the circuit board). The first board had a shallow cutout for the battery and the clips were too far apart to grab the edges of my board. The second board had way more room for the battery and required clipping the original battery holder from the stock key back onto the circuit board and then this whole piece popped down into the pcb board. I will take pics and post in a minute.
YELOSUB 07-20-2009, 06:57 AM These look pretty cool...Watching...
uskrewed 07-21-2009, 06:40 PM You said they worked on the xD but do we have confirmation from anyone who has purchased one? Also do you have any left?
galyion 07-22-2009, 01:45 AM nobody with an xd has bought one yet but i have sold one to rjjone2 and has a new xb and they are the same key.

http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww4/rjjone2/HPIM0569.jpg
the first pcb board is in the picture but it didn't have enough room to fit the battery contact so galyion sent me a second pcb that worked
uskrewed 07-26-2009, 02:20 PM xD checking in, no transponder came with my key either. It was hard to get the clear part of the PCB separated from the black part. Aside from that, the process was really easy. Although, the rear of it slides around and doesn't feel like it's securely in place. Also, maybe they were all like this but mine was a lil scuffed up and looked kinda used. I find myself holding the panic button on accident as I try and push the key out, I've already set off the alarm and scared the crap out of myself. Lastly is there anyway to get it on my keychain? I mean it's kind of useless otherwise, I don't want to carry around a keychain and 1 loose key. I guess I shoulda asked before I took apart my key, now I feel like I wasted a $250 key to have something that looks cool but I can't carry around :P
YELOSUB 07-26-2009, 03:47 PM ^^^I never thought about that...It would suck not having anytihing that would keep it attached to a key chain...
galyion 07-26-2009, 09:00 PM if you read back through the early posts most people bought these keys for pocket keys. personally both of my stock keys got ruined cause i had them on key rings with too many keys. the metal part of the key broke out of the plastic parts.
uskrewed 07-26-2009, 09:32 PM if you read back through the early posts most people bought these keys for pocket keys. personally both of my stock keys got ruined cause i had them on key rings with too many keys. the metal part of the key broke out of the plastic parts.
You can just put it on the big ring then. So I'll have to come up with some way to put it on my keyring? What are the slots in the circles for? I noticed they turn but am not sure what their function is
rjjone2 07-29-2009, 06:35 PM The two holes on either side are slots for different types of immobilizer chips. I didn't have a chip so I drilled out the plastic to make a through hole and ran a chain to make my key ring. I realize that this key is suppose to be carried alone but I needed to have a few others.
I also press the buttons on accident all the time mostly when the key is in my pocket. They're not really recessed so they are easy to push when not meaning to.

the chain doesn't interfere with the sliding mechanism? Ive never tore one apart so i was just curious. that seems like a good idea.
galyion 08-05-2009, 11:28 PM sold out - lock up
i have a diy up for this key. so if there is any questions about how to convert you can look there
