THE_DON 01-19-2005, 05:27 PM It depends on what kind of driving you plan on doing...
225/40/18 is gonna rub a little (I have that size), so I hope you don't plan
on going too high performance... Any Z rated tire will do.. I have Yokahama
Peace

xbox83 01-19-2005, 06:05 PM i just need a decent tire really but i don't think im going to need too much performance cause honestly i can't think of a reason why i should
matt_a 01-19-2005, 06:21 PM I have these:
http://www.falkentire.com/images/IMGtire_512_angle.jpg
They are Flaken Ziex ZE-512. Mine are 205/50R-16 but they come in all sizes. They are listed as a performance all-season tire. They were rated #1 buy Consumer Reports in their class too. I got them from http://www.discounttiredirect.com at a really good price. I love 'em. They are much quieter than the stock tires, they hold the road a LOT better, and they seem to be very good in snow too.
Joehnn 01-19-2005, 06:35 PM Stock untill spring.
Then I either get new wheels or a panoramic sunroof.
xbox83 01-19-2005, 06:36 PM thanks a lot i'll check that site out
TheScionicMan 01-19-2005, 06:46 PM I'm running the Sumitomo HTR Z II - 215/40/17. Great dry traction, good in wet. reviews are pretty good and I think they are nice. Not too loud, but not too soft and they've got a nice looking tread pattern that doesn't hurt the appearance...

showpaojoe 01-19-2005, 06:48 PM Falken Azenis on stock rims. I wouldn't really suggest em for a cruiser car cuz they grip every nook n cranny on the road and the car pulls in every direction. But for basic road racing...their untouchable.
scion1616 01-19-2005, 07:09 PM i have nitto neogen 215/ 35/ 18, and they are great.
xbox83 01-19-2005, 07:14 PM i have nitto neogen 215/ 35/ 18, and they are great.
hows the ride quality on that rubber band
scion1616 01-19-2005, 07:24 PM never bothered me a bit i have had different sizes on previous vehicles and no matter what they seem to be the same. 205/40/17, 225/40/16. all the same.
doctorcue 01-19-2005, 07:37 PM I have Bridgestone Potenze RE-950's:
http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/bridgestone/bs_potenza_re950.jpg
Great tire... good dry handling, EXCELLENT wet handling, & nice tire wear. A little expensive, but worth it to me. I had these on my CRX also, so you can see I trust these. Worth it... check them out.
jocdoc 01-19-2005, 08:35 PM I've got Nitto Neo Gens 225-40-18's on 18" Zinik sabini's. the definately will rub on the fronts, but only when you have wheel turned all the way. i've had the plastic cut out of the wheel well some, in the front, and it has helped to they only rub when i'm in reverse and cut it hard. you'll have to shave a quarter inch of metal to make them fit so no touchy on the well. but it can get done. the tires are incredible with the crazy unusual design. they're made for scions. i've droped it with hotchkis springs which is an absolute if you put that size on. if not your xb will sit entirely way to high.
1_Sick_XB 01-19-2005, 08:43 PM Anyone run 225/35/18's?
i got 18x7.5 adr's with goldlines springs and cannot figure out a good tire size?
i dont want to cut anyhting metal but can cut some plastic.
anyone have good pictures of the 215/35/18? seem the the tire width would be tiny lookign like a drift tire..

jaymo 01-19-2005, 08:55 PM Well, I just ordered 225X40X18's (Kumho's) and Motegi 18X7 wheels..I hope they won't rub ...

squirrel 01-19-2005, 10:59 PM I'm running 215/40-17 Nitto NeoGens, but will be running 205/40-18 and 215/35-18 sometime this year, or 205/45-16.

Hmm, kind of tall, and will likely rub while turning. I'm pretty sure 215/35-18s are the better choice unless you have camber.

RogerTTR 01-20-2005, 12:21 AM 225/40R18's might be a bit tall, we recommend 225/35-18's! Are you looking for a "Summer" Wet/Dry tire or an All-Season?
http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=DJ1&url=/tires/index.jsp
bB384 01-20-2005, 09:16 AM I got 16x7 5ZIGEN FN01R-C's wrapped in 205/50VR16 Nitto Neo Gens. They have a 280 Treadwear so they're softer, but not too soft like the Falken Azenis which are 200 Treadwear. Also the Neo Gens are all season and supposedly have good traction in the snow, I don't know I havent tried it, but I can hang at freeway speed in the rain!:-D

1_Sick_XB 01-20-2005, 03:49 PM i see your using 18x7 wheels.
which means they'd stretch more on my 7.5's..
i wonder if 225 would work. :tap:

IF you really want some awsome dry tires get Falken Azenis. 200 Treadwear, So they're pretty soft. The only problem you will have is that they pick up anything on the road, I don't recomend them if you drive on ____ty roads.
CBSIMONSEZ 01-23-2005, 02:22 AM I can tell you and everyone else out there in cyber land that the NanKangs are not the best in rain or snow. I had my first expeirence with snow today; not any more then 1/2 inch on the roads, and had to bring her home early.
I think in the spring, or summer, ill go with the Yokohama Avid HS1.
oneslowxa 01-31-2005, 03:14 PM nitto 555R 225/35/18
I have close to 16k miles on these tires and they still have a lot of tread left...
I don't drive my car too hard, except on kelly drive which is a somewhat demanding set of turns, but on the street i take it easy and often don't go past 70... nj/pa roads are unforgiving...
you must check the tire pressures out every couple of days if you speed a lot...
and they are pretty noisy tires due to the sidewalls...
