should i get other quotes
diego_demarco1025 06-06-2009, 06:23 PM thats alot if its just 225 to install the springs
Hyghgynx 06-06-2009, 06:30 PM I paid $150 for mine. So yes, that's seems like quite a bit. Tell them you're tight on $$$ and will give
them $250 for the install AND alignment. Worth a shot.
gp1817 06-06-2009, 06:53 PM thats what i thought..i personally never been to this shop before..someone mentioned the shop to me which they happen to see....so i went there i ask a quote on springs install they ask me how low i said i got teins H which are 1.9 in front and 1.5 in back he called his install gie on the phone he asked me what car i said 06 scion tc and then he said $225 does that include the alignment he said no..i said that alot he said well it will be done right i said i never had it done so how can it be done the right way he said you know what i mean long story short i try to get a lower price i said $175 they said sorry....we went on and on mean while the install gie wansnt there he was quote busy so i dont know im goona check other shops i cant call them and ask for a price cause the yknow what i look like ....maybe ill talk there heads off until they give me a good price LOL
Yanki01 06-06-2009, 08:04 PM i got mine installed in October 2005 for $100, call around.
FMTC08 06-06-2009, 08:39 PM I paid $150 for mine. So yes, that's seems like quite a bit. Tell them you're tight on $$$ and will give

Iceman04503 06-06-2009, 08:51 PM i got mine installed in October 2005 for $100, call around.
x2 The shop I go to charges $25 per wheel.
gp1817 06-06-2009, 10:56 PM yea im goona call around get some more prices...maybe i can get $175 install and alignment
ahatch133 06-06-2009, 11:35 PM lol that sounds like a great price!! the delarship by my house quoted me at 900 dollars i laughed and said what does it come with the springs coil-overs and a full tank of gas. the guy was like uhh no im serious it takes 9 hours so its 900 dollars. i was like what do u take 16 breaks in between and hung up...
kphyle22 06-06-2009, 11:37 PM I know you may not feel comfortable installing them yourself, but it truly is easy. I had never done anything with cars when a buddy and I did mine, and I'm so glad I didn't take it to a shop. I paid him 50 bucks and we called it a day
gp1817 06-07-2009, 12:00 AM honestly if worse comes to worse ill save that $225 for a header and do the springs my self with the help of my buddy..so far i did everything else on the car myself.....there not that many shops around me so its really not easy not going to the dealership..maybe ill relook the DIY here and get some opions and just do it myself
kphyle22 06-07-2009, 12:05 AM yea. it really helped that my buddy had done it before, but once we were doing it, i was thinking i could have been able to figure it out. the only wierd thing was the joints. let those babies soak in WD40.
side note: if you're looking for a used header, I have a used megan one that I may get rid of. let me know, cause if you want it, i wont list it in the PPC
shupes31 06-07-2009, 12:08 AM Around here, not many shops do installs. The lowest quote I got was 350, and I'd have to find my own place to get it aligned. So i just did it myself. It's a great learning experience.
Have fun! :P
gp1817 06-07-2009, 12:38 AM ill see what happens.. shop around if i can get it done for under $200 with the alignment that i dont mind.. not and emergency even though ill look sick afterwards goota do more homework thats all..
how much would you want for the header....if i can get a really cheap price cause i was planing on getting the DME version...but if you can sell me a great price il consider it
kphyle22 06-07-2009, 12:39 AM umm. I'm sure we can work something out. lemme look around the PPC to find a general price and I'll try to go a little lower.
gp1817 06-07-2009, 12:44 AM let me know...if you can get a pic also
BZinn1 06-07-2009, 12:47 AM lol that sounds like a great price!! the delarship by my house quoted me at 900 dollars i laughed and said what does it come with the springs coil-overs and a full tank of gas. the guy was like uhh no im serious it takes 9 hours so its 900 dollars. i was like what do u take 16 breaks in between and hung up...
Ouch........9 hours.......tech needs to practice more,I got it in under 2 hours and did take smoke breaks every 20 minutes........lol.......man dealerships suck at times.
but to the original poster,$225 for where you live is a decent cost and the alignment cost is normal too.If you do not have access to tools and driveway then you are kinda in a pinch there, and if you have never done it before you may want a friend who has done it with you.
Have you goto your local forum and seen if there is anyone within an hour to goto to do it for pizza and beer........that is what we charge here in the NW.......really,we do more business than most business's....
NYNCTC 06-07-2009, 11:49 AM Seriously, i would try and install yourself with friend who is car smart.
It took me and a buddy 7 hours because we are idiots and couldnt figure out the dumbest stuff like how to access the rear bolts, how to get the windsheild wiper off haha. But it was a great experience nonetheless.
Chrisb319 06-07-2009, 03:52 PM look elsewhere I got my shocks and springs done for 175. That was after getting quotes for 800 dollars at some other places that thought I was stupid lol also don't do the alignment right after the install wait a few weeks.
ScionJim23 06-08-2009, 12:58 PM $225 isn' too bad but I'd shop around again. I just did my own coils and saved the money since its pretty easy if you have someone help for an extra hand.
gp1817 06-09-2009, 04:18 PM ok so my buddy decided to give them a call cause hes batter at talking about cars and stuff then i am he said if we cant get a good deal ill see if my mechanic can do it..
Ok so he calle right..same place he asked for the gie i talked too..he asked about spring install on a 06 scion tc..he told him what springs and stuff...but this time he gave us a different price of $250 he said does that include and alignment he said no we dont have and alignment machine if we did it would be $80.....he said what a rip off thats the best you can do..they went on and on....my buddie decdie to confront him on the phone and said my friend was there about 2 days ago and you gave him a price of this and that and talked to him he said must of been a different location he said are you located in such and such street he said yea is your name this he said what your point he said you dont know what your talking about giving two prices you install springs and dont have and aligment machine which you dont him you can do it for $75.....the he said is there anything else i can help you with my bud said no and hanged up......
so i think were goona end of doing it our selves
uscg_stamant 06-09-2009, 06:18 PM Yea definately just cheaper to do it yourself........took my and my friend bout 3 hours to get it done. Longest and hardest part was the rears......have to line up PERFECT!!!!
ScionJim23 06-09-2009, 06:20 PM Yes, the back is the hardest to do for my coils, its was a PITA!
kphyle22 06-09-2009, 09:42 PM really?? I don't know why everyone things the rear was so difficult. I probably just got lucky, cause I don't remember anything really harder than the front
