I know its pretty much a no brainer but does someone have a link to change oil on a scion tc ?

Owners Manual says all as far as Fluid Information.

 

Do they show where to jack the car in the front with a floor jack ?

 

To jack car up goto the side of the car and on the side skirt there is an arrow.......look under the car at that arrow and you will see the frame rail.....jack it up right there.......put in a jack stand and let jack down.........never work under a car with out it being on stands.......jacks fail and can kill you.......lost my best friend that way.

Oil changes are super easy though.......you can do it.

 

I said a floor jack not a OEM jack.

 

uh ok........same thing.......use a jack stand and jack up from same place......had about 20 cars in the air now about 300 times and use that place every time.....is in the manual even.......floor jacks fail more than sissor jacks........your life......lol

 

I dont think your understanding where i am coming from. A floor jack with a flat bottom, its not going to fit the OEM groves.

Like on my old car i used the front cross bar (i believe its called)

 

Well get on your knees look under the front-end of the car...And find the cross beam!...Its "not" that hard man!.....If you cant find it...Maybe u should visit Jiffy Poo if you cant figure out how to use a floor jack & jack stand.

 

Same thing man, doesn't matter what kind of jack you have hit the frame like it has been stated or the cross member in the front of the car. Still use jack stands like it has been stated.

When I jack my car, since its lowered, I jack up the croos member high enough to put jack stands on each frame on the side of the car where the arrows are so 2 jack stands on the sides and 1 jack in the front, all the protection in the world.

I just wanted to double check the locations, i heard stories of people bending stuff and this is my first scion oil change. I like to double check things online before i take a run at it. Seems to be a cheaper path than just jumping right into it.

Just for the record, every car can/should be jacked up at the front cross beam (w/ floor jack) ?

 

The cross member bolts up to the car's frame. It has to be enough to support the weight of the car, on the tC it even has a tow hook there, amongst other places as well so that lets you know it can support the wieght of the car.

I don't know if that's true for every car but it never hurts to get under there and check.

 

Buy some Ramps from Walmart.. they're like $25 or so.. really saves time and effort haha'.

 

Only reason i have the floor jack is because my older car was to low for them.

 

the jacking point for the front is towards the front bumper. It's a straight I-shaped piece coming off of the lower front subframe. Your owners manual shows you the front jacking point.

it is much easier to jack this point up, then put your jack stands on the specified points on the side of the car. Check your manual.

 

Well i did use the point towards the front of the car and everything went fine. Only thing i would have recommended for someone is to get a oil filter removal part that attaches to your ratchet and the bottom of the filter not the handle one this way you dont have to remove the plastic to get to it.

and napa has a nice oil filter socket that attaches to a 3/8" ratchet.

 

Make sure to check to see if there is a plastic O ring on your oil filter! For some reason, the O right was loose on the oil filter I bought and fell off. I didn't notice this and put the oil filter on, started the car and oil went everywhere. I was ____ed >_<
