kind of an offshoot to the poll on fees above...

just wondering how many of you out there ended up leasing a scion and what fees you ended up with.

the scion website in itself mentions a $400 acquisition fee, but what other charges did they stick in there on your way out?

please no flaming on lease vs. buy i think we all know the pros and cons by now.

thanks for your help everybody, new to the forum but i plan on sticking around.

The only fee associated with the lease that is not also associated with buying is the $400 acquisition fee. If the dealership has a processing or document fee, that will be applied to the leased vehicle as well. Some states tax leased vehicles different than purchased cars, but that is not a dealership decision.

You do need to check each line you sign. Some dealers may try to sneak GAP insurance in without you knowing about it. GAP is not a bad thing and I strongly recommend customers get it, but it is not required and some folks choose to self insure against a negative equity total loss. If you have GAP, you will have to initial a line with the GAP fee disclosed. If GAP was not discussed, but you are asked to inital a fee for it, stop the process so you can make an educated decision as to whether you want it or not. Don't let yourself be jammed with it.

thanks for the reply.

yeah i'll most likely be getting gap insurance from my auto policy holder.

i was just worried that i was goin to face all sorts of ridiculous fees such as a bank fee, dealer service fee, termination fee, or a disposition fee.

hopefully there won't be much tacked on there.

You might also make an educated decision about whether you want to continue to work with a dealer that tries to sneak stuff into the contract! Personally, I'd go down the road if a dealer tried this sort of tactic.

no doubt about that. the wait for a tc is seriously insanity...but ive decided that i wont be doing business with a dealer like that. sorry i really love the car, but i can wait longer for the sake of my principles.

Believe me... I agree completely. I've just seen to many examples lately of consumers choosing to deal with shady dealers to rule it out. Besides that, there are some places in the country where there are not many choices in dealers. In those cases, consumers may have to hold thier noses in order to get the car they want.
