ok when i bought my xa the sales man told me i can convert to 4 wheeel disc brakes using corolla parts anyone done this i need a parts list of what i need

Parts list
Hubs from the corolla
Master cylinder. Its bigger and can handle the load from 4 calipers
Calipers and rotors

Not sure about the axles being the same size, but if they are, it will be easier to swap them out since the hubs are already mounted to the corolla ones.

Its a somewhat time consuming task. I helped a friend do a job on a civic hatch and put 300ZX brakes on a 240SX.

I know there are more things you need, but that is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Better tires would go a whole lot further per dollar towards reducing your braking distance. If fade is a problem, racing pads would be a better first step than rear discs. Adding rear discs would be a ways down that list. I'd only do it if I were racing, and I wouldn't be doing that in an xA.

Econobox: It's not always about stopping, sometimes it's about style. And of course some of us do race our xA's. We just dont expect to pull 12's in the 1/4 mile.


ScionGunner: If you are looking for which rear brakes, try 93-97 corrolla I belive they are the right ones.

Oh and to add to RHDVIPbB's list, You May wish to change to proportioning valve but as they only have a weight difference of less than 100lbs it prolly wouldn't make a difference.

you will see where they now have and Option package in Japan with Rear Disk Brakes, Thats the route I am going to go.
Just need to make that long distance phone call to a Japan service Department and pay Boucoup for it, but it will be true JDM :)
