I was under the impression that a rear strut bar was worthless. Can anyone give me a honest answer if this is true or not?

Look on the recent post on frame braces, Part shippers. com has them. Its made by GT Spec. I Also have heard that the rear strut brace is just for looks .

i't does a lil bit , kinda neutralizes the handling, tightens up the rear end , nothin like on a coil loaded strut type but it does actually serve a purpose.

Because of this the bar would have flex twisting from front to back not from side to side. Also mine bolts directly to the rear shock mounts, not the top of the shock. I did have to drill 4 holes, but mine is pretty solid. It did make a small difference. Now I need sways.

I would think that the rear strut brace would serve a bigger purpose because the engine is so close to the firewall, whereas the rear is open space. If it didn't help in handling, it would still help maintain frame integrity during a collision.

This would be the correct way for mounting a rea strut tower brace. It must be bolted to the strut toewers themsleves and not use the upper rear shock bolt. There will still be a small amount of play with the shocks, and will not be a "solid" mount.

So once again, if used on top of the struts it will be just for looks. :tap: mmm i was hoping it would have served some greater purpose

Any chance you could make me one? I'd paypal you the cost. I saw one on ebay, was going to buy it, but it bolted only to the top of the shock. I was afraid there would be too much stress if only attatched to the top. The way you did it sounds alllloooott better.

my thinking is ..just like doing intake and not doin exhaust...same with braces/suspension...why do one part and not the whole thing?

im thinking its the whole package that will make a difference and not so much one piece...however....some ONE pieces make more difference than others

for example everything ive read says the bottom sway bars make a noticeable difference

i would hate to say the rear sway bar does nothing, when installing my springs , i had only the left shock unbolted, and that connecting piece wobbled up and down a good foot while the right side stayed in place. i dont have one , but im going to get one because of what i saw.

Like wa ssaid, it all depends on the design.

A front strut bar works because it connects two point of the chassis together. That's the key.

with front wheel drive a rear sway bar does a better job than the rear strut bar.

Hey Brian, what suspension mods do you currently have?

I have H springs, and hotchkins front sway, and progress rear...and someday coilovers and a frame brace. WOW this thread is like a year old?
