:tap: I have a 2005 TCM and I keep reading that the 05 Radio is different from the 04. I read where we can Modify the text screen. I have tried about 10 times and I can not get it to change any text.. I'm wondering if I have a 04 radio. I took it to the dealer last week (Longo in El Monte, Caif.) I told the service advisor about it and he said there is no change between the 04 and 05 radio. Does this change only apply to the factory radio that comes with the car which only plays 1 CD??? I'm really confused since every thing I read mentions the changes you can make on the text screen. Does anyone else have this problem also????????

look in your radios owners manual (not the cars manual)
it shows you how to change the start up screen from "scion"
to whaterver you want (12 letters)

I have a 2005 xB with a 2004 radio, no custom greeting for me. It sounds like a lot of people got stuck with 2004 radios.

I have looked in the radio manual. It says nothing about the text change option. I also looked in a new tC manual with a salesman at Longo. It didn't show anyting either. I wonder if you can only change the text on the single disk unit.

I was able to change the startup text on my 2005 w/ 6 disc changer with no problems.

I couldn't find the original thread with instructions (and a scan of the user manual), but this thread (http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=41863) has the same directions that I used. Just look for dctennis10's post towards the bottom of the first page.

The directions are on pgs 18 and 19 in the '05 Audio System Owner's Manual. If the 'Changing the Welcome Screen' instructions aren't there, you have an '04 stereo and can't change the text.

does this have something to do with the model #s? ie. T1801 vs T1805?
