Assuming your talking about the one on the valve cover, it usually connects back into the intake. But when you have a breather you attach a small filter to it.

does nothing for performance, but supposedly it keeps your throttle body and intake manifold from becoming black and sooty from oil vapor coming thru the pcv hose

their like 15bucks though....only 3 bucks more than a new PCV valve, I would totally get one if I wasn't on a life budget right now...

yep, autozone, then you cut the stock hose, and you will have to trim the tip of the rubber entry on the breather itself to fit into the hose end

so it will be

valve cover >2 inch of oem hose <breather

You should read up on how the PCV system actually works.

Your ideas don't make much sense. The breather tube allows air INTO the valve cover, not the other way. It is called a POSITIVE crankcase ventilation. Air is pulled into the valve cover and the air travels though the head down though the bottom end and pulls the oil/exhaust/fuel vapours out of the block (because piston rings dont ever make a perfect seal) and through the PCV valve and gets burned. By replacing the hose with a filter, the block is no longer pressurised by the intake and you are preventing the PCV from venting those vapours inside the motor and this will cause your oil to get contaminated much quicker and you will see increased engine wear. This mod will shorten the life of your motor.

In other words, if you don't understand how it works, leave it alone.

^just researched a little, and hes right, lol, i dont think you would see any real damage right away, but you never know, so thank you stranger for bringing that up, dont mind being told when things are bad or could be made better, so ill be replacing the hose soon, lol

i did it cuz i had one laying around, but if you're trying to spruce up your engine bay a little, they sell colored silicone hoses in autoparts stores too!

I know most people do the filter because it does look neater than having a hose but its just bad for your motor. But if you think it adds that extra little ooh and ahh for a show pop it on when the cars at the show then take it off after. Just dont drive around like that.

i did mine that way when i was boosted and didnt have a nipple to route the hose into the intake pipe...eventually i got a different intake pipe and put a catch can on it...

stock it is routed into the intake which would pull a vacuum on the head.

nope...you would benifit from it as oil vapors are being collected instead of going into your intake and mixed with fuel.

^yeah, and you would still have the vacuum effect, and also the bling, lol

You only really need a catch can if you are running boost. But if your NA and want one to have another pretty hing under the hood it wont hurt anything like the filter will.

so no CEL's nothing? wat about on the intake the nipple thing where the old hose use to connect to the intake? do u jus leave it open or what? or do u jus plug it?

with the breather, i plugged it
and no check engine light unless that hole isnt plugged

pluged it...if not air leaks past the maf and yeah the car doesnt like that one bit...lol

Nobody on this forum except mabe 1 or 2 people are going to have an NA built TC serious enough for a catch can to do anything for them.
